Exclusively Setters

Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World

I was SO proud of my Tallulah this weekend. On Friday she beat many dogs, including collies to qualify for the Starters Cup Final at the KC International Agility Festival in Peterborough UK.

On Saturday she put up an excellent performance in the final, gaining a good clear, but not just not quite fast enough to beat 7 border collies and a Belgium Shepherd. I had so many wonderful comments from Collie competitors about my special little girl.

Congratulations!! I think setters make excellent agility dogs and they can be quite fast too! Unfortunately the handler has to be fit and fast also!!(which I am not)But we do it more for fun. Do you have competitions(not championship shows) where there are ABC classes(Anything But a Collie!!) Well done again!!

Hi Carmel.

Yes we do have ABC classes and Tally does very well in those when she goes clear. Unfortunately this year two of the big qualifiers were cancelled because of the floods we have suffered over here.

I was very disappointed that the KC International Festival didn't have an ABC class, and I told the officials that many of us were disappointed by this. Their reply was far from satisfactory, that all the rings were full up with (mainly collie) events and that it would be impossible to have scheduled an ABC class. They did say they would bring it up at the next working party meeting though :-/

Well done Tallulah and Griffin!!! Go further like that...and beat all the collies!
I hope to do agility also with Blossom but she is still to young. First we will train obedience. We have at the club where we train obedience a waitinglist for agility of 1 year. I think that's crazy! There were also two irish setters which did agility. Beautiful to see!!!

Do you have pictures of last weekend???

Hi Mirjan, Jolly and Blossom

Yes, we do want to beat all the collies, but many of them are very short striding and very fast, and the spacing between the jumps is really geared up for collies.

I have posted a couple of pictures of last weekend, but we forgot to set the camera for distance shots, so unfortunately they are not too good.

I have just found a website containing pictures from the show the week before and I am going to order some prints. There is one of my old boy in the veterans class, and two of Tallulah.

Wow, thanks for putting that there. This picture really shows my girl in all her glory. Yes, she really does fly. She is a lovely light famed, long tailed girl. She is so well balance, and so nimble on her feet. She wouldn't be selected in the British show ring, because she has the more American style appearance, but to me, she is just magic. She is also a dog who LOVES performing, tricks, obedience, field trialing, anything which is put in front of her really.

I am hoping my young boy will be as good as her, but he is still very gangly at 7 months.
