my 13yr old was diagnosed last year, in vets for 4 days, he was so thin and lethargic thought we were going to lose him, but he pulled through, he was also required to go on low fat low protein diet, couldn't afford vets prescription diet so after some research came up with arden grange sensitive only 9% fat which he thrived on, he was 14 couple weeks ago and doing fine.

Hello Jean ,I have not got experience of Pancreatitis in Dogs however i did read extensive literature as Maureen regularly suffered from this .I would suggest you need to know if Megan is producing the Digestive enzymes necessary to digest her food.Lipase is necessary to digest fats so if she has to be on a low fat diet it would suggest she is not making enough of this.I would have thought that protein diet would be ok but i am not a doctor. The enzymes can be given orally to humans to take before a meal so that they can digest the food.I hope people out there that have had first hand experience of this can help you out.

I have a bitch with pancreatic problems and at the moment I am trying her on Beta Sensitive Salmon and Rice (with just a little bit of Whiskas Oh So Fishy mixed in to get her going ) She is a lot better at the moment. She has a tendency to be sick sometimes when exercised ( just bile as I don't excercise a when there is anything likely to be in the stomach) and she is very thin. Let us know how you get on.

Just a thought - maybe try getting in touch with Sandy Waterton from the K9Auto-ImmuneSupport Group on yahoo - they work closely with Jean Dodds who is mentioned in the article on Pancreatits.

Hi Jean,

I am keeping my fingers crossed so tightly for you both. I lost my boy, Zeus, 10 yrs, in July but with heart failure, he spent days at the specialists. I truly believe we were robbed of him too early. I know how you must be feeling I really do. A really huge hug for Megan from me.
