Megan 9 years old irish setter bitch, on iv drip at the vets she has been diagnosed with pancreatitis so its nil by mouth for 48 hours then a very low fat diet after that, if she gets through the first 48 hours ok, has anybody got experience of this and what diet did they put their dog on afterwards, she has always had a diet of biscuit (complete feed- Royal Canine) and all different sorts of meat, cooked or uncooked two meals a day and she is not over-weight, please help

Megan came home today, Yippee, although a wee bit better not out of the woods, the veins in both legs have blown so its down to syringe feeding, because she still wont eat or drink on her own, (Any ideas to get her eating again gratefully received) Thank you all very much for your help and kind words its been a great help

I have found 2 things get mine eating after ops. Hot roast chicken from the deli at the supermarket and/or Whiskas Oh so Fishy cat food ( in small quantities as it is rich but sometimes they will get going with it and then you can mix it in with her normal food.)

Chappie is good if she will eat it - alot of vets recommend it.

Burns have a good food for pancreatic problems but my girl won't eat it. Burns are very good and have a helpline service.
Nice to hear she is homw. I am sure she will start to pick up now. Big hugs for Megan.

thankyou Viv, yes the chicken has been going down v ery well today, I have been out and bought some whiskas, the vet was happy with her today, although he has made her a bit of a pin cushion, she can come back home and lay back on the settee which is good, thankyou for your support most appreciated Best Wishes Jean
