I am so pleased today - apart from a stinking cold - I had the best weekend in Ireland. This was the Irish Gundog Field and Show Society Ch show and they realy pushed the boat out. They went all Hallowe'en. It was fantastic!
Best of all for us was a Dalriach Double. Fergal (Ir Ch Dalriach Infamous Grouse) was Green Star Dog and BoB and little Norna was Bitch Green Star and that makes SEVEN! She is now a CHAMPION (a month short of her 2nd birthday(
Thank you so much everyone for your help and support on here Poppy (Royston Duchess - Dalriach & Lockena) has just produced a beautiful litter of 7 pups (5 dogs & 2 bitches) photos can be seen at www.lovenjoelsetters.co.uk Sire: Gallybob Gold Standard
Congratulations Susie. I look forward to seeing more pics as the babies grow.
I have a little bit of show news. Two year old Rupert (Vanders Vita di Riley con Crosswest) gained the last points for his Show Certificate of Merit in style by winning the Group at Plymouth and District Kennel Association on 20 November.
Hi still have 2 gorgeous puppies available from the last litter of International Dual Champion United Spots O'Healy x Gallybob Gold Standard. Pedigree and photos at www.unitespots.com
The link in your last post is missing the "d" in united. Also, my browser is flashing a "Suspected Malware Site" for you domain. I've never gotten it before when going to your site. Here's Google Safe Browsing's diagnostic:
Worse - once I click past the malware warnings, (in a safe way), I get your splash page. But when I go to the IRWS section (english version), I see some sort of admin panel showing the files of the software that powers your website.
I opened the site manually, not through clicking on a link and my antivirus programme immediately told me that an attack on my computer was stopped - so yes, Fiorella, you should do something about it as the next page that comes up is the admin panel.
My browser's security feature still shows the malware warning when I first go to your domain.
When I click past the warning everything appears to be okay.
If I go directly to unitedspots.com/irws I do not get the warning.
If your earlier issue has been completely resolved, then I suspect that my browser is checking against a third party list of suspect domains, and your website's domain name remains on that list.
if you love showing in the UK or just want to help us out please sign this petition or our KC will walk all over the exhibitors with another stupid law please please sign!!!!! ignore the pay pal thingy you do not ave to pay here is the link
Liam went to his first show in Sunday in Cognac - he had a wonderful time - even if he didn't understand why there were soooooo many different types of dogs!! The judge loved him and awarded him a 'Trés Prometteur'
If you'd like to see how he got on please look at his blog
GOOD NEWS for the official eye test of 4 of my IRWS yesterday. They are all NOT AFFECTED from PPC and Lo PRA. they range from 8 to almost 13 years old. Here is my oldie United Spots Just Do It - Nike (when he was in his prime). He is the oldest of my lot now
Forgive my lack of knowledge here but as one who knows nothing about outcrossing after reading this I have a question. Isnt the English setter a totally different breed of dog, so if thats the case then why would the English setter be used in outcrossing the IRWS, if an outcross to a different breed was necessary to keep the breed genetically healthy etc... would it not be the close relation of the IRWS; the Irish Red Setter that would be considered for the role? To all of you knowledgeable setter breeders I am sure that my question is a stupid one but it sort of feels strange to me that the English setter would have been used for an outcross in the breeding of IRWS.
As far as I know English setters are not being considered for the role of outcrossing with IRWS, only selected Irish Setters are to be considered, that is, if the go ahead is given.
Thanks Martin I was looking at the first pages of this discussion where someone mentioned an English setter but I hadnt realised when I posted that the comment was so far back. Thanks for the info. It makes sense too that if any dog was to be used it would be the Irish Setter for the purpose of outcrossing. Thanks!
The question of 'English Setter in IRWS breeding' is an old red herring - given as a reason for ticking in IRWS coats. This ignores any investigation into coat colour inheritance - ticking is a separate gene and may be present in in solid coloured dogs - just not seen. Centuries ago, dogs were bred for performance not for breed identity as such.... so who knows what breeds were added?
The current 'fear' comes from the statement that the four Setter breeds are equally close genetically - this has been verified on different occasions in studies by independent geneticists.
There is no genetic reason why English and Gordon Setters could not be used along with Irish Setters in an outcross if the fear of health problems is the motive. The objection is that the IRWS would be altered from the current breed standard - a black and tan IRWS?, a Belton IRWS?, a solid red IRWS? The dogs could probably be very healthy or possibly very unhealthy with diseases added from the other breeds, but with COIs of 0% and the possibility, over many generations, of 'breeding back' to the original IRWS colour.

I see the URL for the google safe browser page is cued to my browser (Safari for Mac). That's probably why . . . ?
Anyway - It is saying that there is malware hidden somewhere on your site's server and that it downloads itself without you being aware of it.
Don't know how accurate Google is on this type of stuff. Just wanted to give you a heads up in case it is accurate.
