How many Irish Setters do you have?
Four
How long have you owned Irish Setters?
Since 1975
About Me:
I have been 'owned' by Irish Setters since my first one in 1975. My dogs are my family and I have had a lot of fun loving, showing and breeding them. The type is English, predominantly Wendover. My husband and I live on our 12 acre vineyard at Havelock North. The dogs have the freedom of the property but insist on being escorted on their frequent walks during the day. Our dogs have always been house dogs and chose whether they sleep with us or in their OTT beds in the kitchen.

I have lost my best girl friend. I had hoped she would make her 15th birthday but sadly not to be. Daisy was the best friend I could ever have had and I miss her dreadfully, as does the rest of the family. Such a special girl.

Hi Gayle.
Welcome from us too. We are from Melbourne Australia. Your Setters are beautiful. I have two Setter girls, one Irish and one English. We got them both as baby puppies together, and they are now turning 7. Tess is having her birthday tomorrow and Megg, my English Setter will turn 7 in February.

Again welcome. I'm sure you will enjoy this site very much. It's lots of fun.

Lynn, Tess (Irish) and Megg (English) from Australia.

Hi Gayle,
Great to see your photos. I love the shot with the 4. My 2 girls sleep with me also, it must be an irish setter trait, they love comfort! I love the Wendover lines, both my girls have it throughout their lines.
Regards Di

I know where your are coming from as to the ruptured uterus, I was told that my young girl had that, in my case it was lucky she didn't actually have anything wrong with her uterus....but they still opened her up....
Is your girl out of Wendover Lorna??? by Intrepid??? if she is, she is my girls Aunty.
Really sorry to hear that she has had that kind of problem, was it a 'Closed Pyometera' (not sure how to spell that) It is a difficult thing to get to the bottom of, you don't have any external visualisation, very difficult to notice, usually until it is too late, so you were very lucky, I hope she is going to be OK. I am sure with all your T.L.C. that she will be fine.
Hope to speak soon. Please let me know how she progresses, Dee and the girls
