About Me:
Hello,

I'm Jarno and my dog is Nemo (Raistar Black Sabbath). Nemo is two years old now and he's a great character, like setters tend to be. We both enjoy going outdoors, forests and swamps, usually with a camera. We are having the best of times on our shooting trips to places we wouldn't go othewise, at times we would be in bed...

About the photography... (as people have been asking)
I never did take photos much until 2006 when I bought this camera of mine. Still I wasn't very excited about it, I only did shoot some occational photos, family photos mainly. Then at november 2007 Nemo came to us and I started taking photos of this little devil... and found it not only very challenging but extremely fun. We combined shooting and going outdoors; it deserved us both: we got a reason to do very long walks, practice obedience and have fun. On winter 2008 I managed to take my first photo that I thought myself was very good. And as the development comes from success, that was a final kick to my inspiration to Nemo-photography - that seems to be still growing :D

My equipment:
Canon eos 350 d
Canon ef-s 18 - 55mm 3,5-5,6 II
Canon ef 50mm 1.8 II
Canon ef 75-300mm 4-5,6 III usm
Sigma ex 10mm dc fisheye

Basicly you didn't do anything wrong. You did it as good as you could. But you've got some cestain "weak" links: - your lens 70-300mm. I think it's minimum aperture is at least 4.0 ? It's not made for indoors without a flashlight. - did't use tripod…

Here's one vision to this theme that had been on my mind for some time. Today we went walking on woods with Nemo and wandered to a path that had been too wet, but frozen now. I seemed like leading to the swamps... so I thought we walk there to sho…

Hi Jarno,

yes, Ginger is a very sweet dog! (Like all Setters) We did have lots of snow today but unfortunately the sky was very dark and grey. I took some shots, I had to light them up in photoshop but they are still to dark.

Hi Jarno,
Thank you for your comment on the beach photo. My husband also liked that one particularly. It was very windy and lots of sand being blown about on that day so I just couldn't avoid at least a bit of camera shake - am thinking about getting a monopod which should hopefully help a little :-)
Love looking at your photos. I have almost the same equipment as you but am nowhere near as good at taking photos ;-) But it's a wonderful hobby!
Best regards from Scotland,
Nicole & the boys

Hi Jarno
yes, interesting with the snow 200 km south from you. But our valley is up on the mountain on 1700 m. So perhaps this is the reason :-)
Have a good time and all the best

This with opening discussion is one way. But is not comfortable way for viewing photos. The best would be the same way as we had on ES. But there is no such possibility inside the group. I did not meant to use your page. But to open one new. Something like picassa. But with diference that a group can add it. And everyone can view it. And we just put a link into Camera corner. I do not have experiences with web, I just ask? Regards

Hi Jarno!
This camera corner is a really boom. But I miss the possibilities to add photos. That is the main reason for this group. My proposal is to establish one site where all can load their pictures and other can admire them. I am not familiar with this and you have already one good site. What do you think. Beside the photo's that can you already see in Camera corner (directly or indirectly) are realy great!

Hi Jarno!
This way (waiting for the right moment) is very dificult. You must wait and catch the right moment. A lot of shoots are neded. I have the privilege that my camera is quite fast and this rafal shooting is very easy. And gives good results. I have problems with knowledge and practice. How to focus, which shuter spedd to select (definitely over 650) and so on. So it is not the problem the aperture :) They say that Nikon lens is quite good. I must ask my friends about it. How about ISO. Which do you use (200-800)? Regards, Robert

Hi Jarno
I think you'd better start a Camera Group as you'd be just perfect - hopefully we can all chip in with hints, tips and experiences. I'm sure the group would be well supported as we all enjoy taking photo's throughout the year. One aspect for joining would be to state what camera and kit people have, and we would see which cameras are popular and what lenses etc are used and then what photo editing programmes are used. There are loads and loads of fantastic photo's on this site just think of what we could achieve if we all pooled are experiences, skills and knowledge;-))

Hi Jarno!
Thanks for your practical advise. If you use 50mm 1.8 how can you then catch jumps over the trees. Then you must be very close. For me 105mm is not enough. OK I agree that 5.6 at 300 is poor but I have the same at 105mm by my lens. If I want to buy 2.8 it is to expensiv.
Another question: how you shoot the jumps of Nemo? 4 pics per second and continious avtofocus?
Regards, Robert

November swamp

Today, while I was having a coffee, Nemo came to me and told he'd really liked to go outdoors, because there were a nice foggy weather, and he'd really liked to go outdoors.

So we drove to the swamps right away! Here Nemo's concentrating to the crazy running around:

Nemo 2 years

Today's Nemo's birthday! We've now had the pleasure to know this excellent chap for a whole two years, and I can guarantee they've gone really fast. Nemo has been everything and more we ever hoped for, he's really the man's best friend... and he doesn't really care about taking the birthday photo :)

Jarno & Nemo

A strange finding

One day we were walking on woods with Nemo when he suddenly spotted something:

He started to bark and jump around. He clearly wanted my attention so I went to see what's in there.
And on the ground, between the rocks there were something strange:
