It' wet, I'll just wee indoors.

Cornelia Hahn is so right and it works. Think I must be lucky here, Rio was virtually house trained when we got him with only the odd mishap, he also wasn't keen on rain but I have to say recent incl…

About Me:
I live on the edge of the Yorkshire dales, near the village of Ingleton. I got my first Irish Setter -'Jinty' ( Segentii Suzi) - 16 years ago. We had many wonderful years together walking the hills, - never less than 5 miles a day and she had more miles on her than a second hand car!!. We walked a snow covered 'Helvellyn' via' Striding edge' in the Lake District on a cold February day when she was eight. Lost her last year at the age of 15yrs 8 months, she succumbed to old age and 'Cushings' in the end which she had had for eight years, . I know everyone thinks their dog is special - 'Jinty' really was! - she even found me my Husband!!. I adore Irish Setters for me no other breed can match their charm, elegance, intelligence or effervescent personalities, their sheer delight in everything and everyone they meet, they have something MAGICAL about them that makes people smile, wherever you go people want to touch them - trail their hand on them as they walk past. I am now the proud owner of a 4 months old pup 'Rio' (Hazelbeck Irish Song), He's a very handsome chap, I am amazed at how many quirks and mannerisms are 'breed specific!', - guess it won't be long before he follows Jinty's preference for jumping in every muddy bog and puddle she could find only to emerge looking like the 'Creature from the Black Lagoon'!!.

Thanks Jennifer! It's good to hear someone liked my Marsh Muncher series! You know, I haven't got much feedback about it and I sometimes wonder if people thinks we are just weird :D (I'm preparing the fifth Marsh Muncher story...)
However, It would be wonderful to see and read about The Creature from the Black Lagoon! [thunderstorm sound effects]

Thank you, you made me laugh, my Gemma was no lady either but loved her all the same. She managed to cut two pads once one on the front and back and emptied an entire coach of lawn bowls(not sure what its called or spelt!!!!) players for sympathy with her 'I can hardly walk limps and whimpers' got to the park and ran around like a mad thing they all looked and laughed she was such a drama queen!
life is such fun with a setter around

Hi Jennifer,
If you know your Irish it should be possible to tell their breeding just from looking at them.Ideally, the dogs form on kennel should look the same as if they have come from a mould almost! I will be more than happy to add Jinty & Rio to my web site. I already have the pedigrees, but if you can e-mail me some photos I can add them as well. I can fully understand why you changed your mind about a rescue dog. When you've had an 'old dog' for a long time, you want a complete change and fun with a younger one again, you need relief from what you've just gone through not more of the same.

Hi Jennifer,
I love the photos you've added so far. Rio looks full of mischief and Jinty looks so gentle. I looked Jimty up as the the Segantii breeding goes back to Twoacres which my boys were. I couldn't find Segantii Suzy, but I did find Segantii Spirited Suzy who was registered toMiss J. A. Lishman. Is this the same dog?
Best wishes,
Michelle

There's no need to feel a fraud, not everyone on here shows or breeds, but the one thing we all have in common is that we are nuts about our dogs!

Welcome here Jennifer!
Love your photo of Jinty, what a wonderful age! I doubt our old lady will reach that biblical age...

Hello there Jennifer
Loved reading about your Jinty sounded quite a lady a bit like my Gemma my friend use to call her the puddle dog as she was always up to her eyes in one!
All the best to you and Rio
