About Me:
our first irish puppy we bought was FEMKE van WOLMERUM, born 13-4-1968, daughter of wendover eelkes and dietske van wolmerum. she was the last choice for us in that litter of 4. but in the end the best. we went to collect her in a bigshoppingbag on the bike about 20 kilometers away from where we lived. wonderful lovely bitch. very very obedient. walked always loose. even in busy surroundings. like e.g. outside the halls in essen where she was entered as a youngster. the only disadvantage was that she vomoted 1 minute before we arrived by car at the destination(sometimes many hours journeys). i did not have a car in those days. i took her on bus and train. like going to the first setterday organised by the breedclub in oosterbeek in 1968.
then came WENDOVER GOODEY (b. 18-6-1969) in 1969 as a puppy. she was Sh.Ch. Wendover Gentleman x Sh.Ch. Wendover Brulette, littersister of wendover grandee.i took her with me after my first visit to the UK in sept. 69. on the train, on the plane.
then in september 1970 i saw a young dog at wendover that took my eye. it was a pleasure to see him standing and walking outside on the grass. first love. it was WENDOVER GENSON (sh.ch. wendover gentleman x wendover star) born 21-3-1968. bred by mrs. d.b. powell out of a good bitch star. in the same litter was wendover kathy. he had an excellent great caracter.
i bred 2 litters with him under the WEYBRIDGE prefix.
12-3-1972 with femke van wolmerum. 12-2-1973 with wendover goodey.
we still get xmas cards of byers of pups!
it was Piet Roks who used him on his first bitch: hurry humorist van de westerhuy and had an influence on the breed through his son BARON of the HUNTER's HOME. baron and his son dreamboy of the hunter's home lived with piet's friend Ad Jansen.
unfortunately one day Baron had escaped and run off and despite articles in the national press was not found.
then came in 1981 puppy TWOACRES GRACE AND FAVOUR (Goldings Goldmarksman x Twoacres Francesca), born 7-9-1981. she was unique. she was certified clear of P.R.A. as a result of birth from P.R.A. clear registered parents. but more unique that she did not like to show and was nearly 16 years old when we had to part from her. not ill but very old and nearly flying off when there was wind. muscles failing at the hindlegs. unforgetable. but most amazing (or not) was that she could not bark the last years of her life. but on her last drive to our vet she was barking that went through your skin...
but i did not choose her because of that pra but like all choices because of her parents, breeding, caracters. and francesca was lovely by one of my favourites: sh.ch. timadon kendel (son of that wonderful sh.ch wendover royalist).

then came the irish setters from piet and marga roks. as youngsters for a week holiday but we always can difficult part from animals so they lived here till the end.
we had a wonderful time with them. those Irish were a credit for the breed. wonderful caracters. good companions
CLASSIC CHOICE of the HUNTER'S HOME, b. 9-2-1991 (If Newgay x Rowanetta's Misty Morning)
GLADY'S NIGHT of the HUNTER'S HOME

rest of story will follow pictures of these irish and their parents will be put on the site asap.
