Getting back into the Irish!

So much has changed in the years I have been away from the showring! Know what I like but so unsure where to start and where to find it. Am also quite saddened that there is no longer a Setter Club in Queensland....nobody to catch up with and get advice...and all the history, records etc they held ....all gone. I have also realised hom much junk I have in my garage - can't find my old photo albums and my special memory boxes of my dogs and those all important pedigrees to refresh my memory… Continue

Goodnight Ruby and Rosie

It is with a heavy heart that I write of the passing of Ruby and Rosie so soon after their 14th birthday. Their owners had prayed they would go together as they had never been separated from birth. Today at lunchtime they fell asleep in their chairs. My thoughts are with Carolyn and Jeremy and the girls at this sad time and my sincere thanks for giving them such a loving…

My little Orange Belton English Setter girl "Annie"

It is with indescribable despair that I am again writing a tribute blog for one of my English Setters, this time for my little girl, Annie, who died at approx. 5am today, Monday, 25 June 2012. Annie would have turned 13 weeks old today.

When you purchase a purebred puppy from a registered breeder, this is not supposed to happen. The reason I…

Another update on Pitanga + a gold star to Romã

Pitanga is now recovering very fast - she has decided to make my coleagues and theacher's lives a living hell and tries to bite them whenever its injection time! I have to be there if they want to do it with no fuss. She is tired f living in the hospital, is tired of her IV and misses her long runs now that her fever is gone. We have now taken a total of 80 ml of pus from her abcess and there is a lot more to come!

And now, I must make a long note about poor Romã, who I forgot…

Update on Pitanga

Hi everyone,

Just a quick update on Pitanga, it's been a really long week...

We have found a huge abcess on one of Pitanga's anal glands. It was growing to the inside, so even with regular rectal exams, no one was able to feel it until it was giant! It's still maturing, so a lot of pus will come out, however, we were able to remove about 20 ml of pus  today, and Pitanga was a lot more confortable after that.

This huge abcess explains her high fevers and most of her…

The ISCA National Show - congratulations to ES member Xavier Vazquez Bracho and Parley

I was very fortunate to be able to watch the Irish Setter Club of America's show at Santa Rosa, California, and am still buzzing from what must have been a unique show. At first there was so much to learn about the US show system, and from watching the preparation and presentation of the dogs - such dedication and professionalism. Then it was obvious that there was an…
