Exclusively Setters

Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World

Thought a bit of background on Craftsman might be of interest. He was whelped in 1970 by ShCh Scotswood Barabbas x Bridget of Castleoak and bred by Mary and Barry Neave. He won 3cc's all in 1974. He was, ofcourse the brother of the hugely influential sire Margretwoods Caretaker of Scotswood and Rita Pike's Margretwoods Conductress who started off her Scarlettis. Mary gave me the photo just after Craftsman had won his 3rd cc because I had a son of his.

Mary and Barry Neave successfully showed Irish under the Margretwoods affix but were better known for their English Setters bred under the Renmark affix. Mary bred Valerie Foss' multi cc winning male ShCh Elswood Renmark Baronet who is in most English Setter pedigrees. They also bred Maltese.

When Mary retired from breeding she gifted the Margretwoods affix to Julie Wilkins and it lives on with her.
