Well just bring him round and I will give him a trim, he may look like the moths have been at him...perhaps we could call it the Moth Class....what do you think...at least we would have some competition in it....Jas looks like a woolly sheep. but hey who cares. to me she is the most beautiful thing on four legs....all the best good night Dee and the gang

Michelle ...take a peek at our Molly's picture.....she has some serious personality issues of the hair going on on top of her head!  Know I could trim it or use a smoothing lotion but it sort of is like part of her personality...more humid it gets the more it stands up .....could put it into a ponytail if she would not go crazy trying to get the bows out.  Love them for who they are and cause they love us!

Thanks for the request Michelle. I just adore Legolas' mad hair and Theoden is gorgeous, too. I think Setters just look stunning when they are almost white. My partner's uncle and auntie have an elderly ES lady which they rescued and he keeps saying that he would like one, too. I don't think I could cope with the hoovering though. Oh well who knows what the future holds.

Oh I agree entierly...I just love Jas the way she is...am taking her to the pet shop tomorrow to choose her birthday present..will try and take some pictures there and post them later in the day...my goodness how she has improved. She is just looking lovely...wool and all....we have got to cherish them for as long as we can, for their very short stay on this earth...

Speak soon...

Oh I think that she will be more for the food too, but a week ago she wasn't eating, so am really pleased that she is now trying to steal anything and everything. I really never thought that she would ever turn 10 it is a wonderful feeling that she is going to be that age tomorrow... fantastic wee girl...

I don't know about the other places...BOB BIG BIS Jas would definitely give him a run for his money....ha ha....perhaps Lego Best Dog and Jas Best Bitch....there you go....decision made....

all the best to you and yours too...Dee and the gang

Molly tolerates brushing for a wee bit....but funny thing is she lovesssssss to take a shower and you can brush, comb , groom all you want in there.  Does not care if you clean her ears but no long intense grooming ....so off she goes a few times of the year to the groomer and I just maintain inbetween times. She is overdue now to visit the groomer.....and even there they do half and then let her play with the purse puppies ( she lovessssss them and they think she is a big playground for them) and then they do the other half!  Right now trying to put off groomer until the zosia grass here turns green as I swear Molly is bringing in the brown runners to plant a lawn in my living room!  When I catch her carrying water to those brown runners she and I will have a heart to heart talk!  or is that heart to head? ?)  I love Molly just how she is but sometimes wonder if  I should be using product on her personality topknot!

We don't show Molly at all. We just enjoy her company....infact I am getting excited because soon it will be time for Miss Molly to do lunch again!  She loved it last year and behaved so well...and it amazed us how many people either "used to have an IS BUT...." or had no idea what type of dog she was!  Good for both sorts to see that an IS can be a great companionship dog as they had a bad reputation here for a long time....then I add in that we rescued her and they really start wondering! :) so I guess we do a different sort of show than the other IS on here.")

Sometimes with burrs or thorny brambles that are the devil to get out of those feathers I crush them flat and then work them out as that way they don't keep gathering more feathers into them.  Molly does not like hair driers but tolerates it if you insist...she likes us to towel dry her and then let her romp thru the house in hopes she can hop up on Alan's side of the bed to "wallow" herself dry.:) Naturally I get a giggle out of that cause he stole my dog!

I did give her a trim for her birthday, but it won't take her long to be back to her old Moth eaten self...lovely can't wait for it....as you say we love them........hair and all....and that is how it should be, don't you think...;o))

Hi there Michelle, the Steroids very nearly killed her, they were very strong and they increased her heart rate to over 200 bpm if this had gone on long enough that would have killed her anyway...and what it actually did was to knock her kidneys and liver out....in fact last week she was so very bad that I had made up my mind that she was going to go to the vet for her check up and then have the vet come out on Tuesday and put her down....thank goodness she 'bounced back' on Monday...she is, as you say, a real fighter...and to survive two different types of cancer and then all the problems with her liver etc she is so good. Long may she be with me...she has been through so very much in her life, she deserves to have a wonderful retierment...I think if it were up to her though she would be back in the ring again with Chloe...(her best, two legged friend)....

Irish here the "it" dog back in early 1970s  (we got our first in 73)....after the Big Red movie....lot of people wanting them, not training them and when they found out they were a wee bit wild, jumping fences, demanding attention....all of a sudden they no longer wanted the dog which accounts for many of the "I used to have an Irish" comments we hear and for the idea that Irish Setters are dumb dogs who are untrainable!  HMPH! and double HMPH! to that . Our first one I knew nothing about the breed....just knew we saw one running across a field and decided we needed a dog who looked like that....but I learned along with my first Shilo.  We saw the same thing here with Dalmations after 101 Dalmations came out....Golden Retrievers also and later even the small dogs who became favorites of so called movie star diva's .  So while I want the IS to be known  and appreciated for what a wonderful companion it can be, and how smart they really are as well as pretty I do not want them to ever become the "IT" dog again as it harms the breed due to quick breeding to fill a "want" for an uneducated consumer who really finds the dog is too much for them to handle so in the end it harms the breed more than it helps them.

Always before we had our males....and I was busy raising my girls (or someone else's little one) until Miss Molly.  I love to watch  the Dog shows, have thought about doing obedience shows with my IS but always end up just plain old loving them here at home.  :) Glad you enjoy showing your gang and have some success so close to home.....and what a great way to meet people and see the countryside. Now that I might enjoy doing.  Had a former coworker  who showed Brittany's but her dogs were commodity's to her and not beloved companions...crated all but their excercise period each day which I found so sad.  She tried to get me into showing Brittany's with her but to me that was opposite of how I want my dogs to be.

I think that she has got old really quickly, but then she has had to put up with so very much in the past six months....she is a real lady, and a fighter...and yes she really does wear her grey well...as for Mr Posh well he is just a 'nut case' lovable but nuts...I would have called him something like that but I have a theme all names begin with M....and the Mr part really tied in nicely but of cause there is always at least one exception....Mrs Robinson....but that ties in with their theme...so all is well.

Thanks so much for the lovely comments on my pictures....

Michelle just don't make the mistake of eating lots of chocolate Easter eggs and bunnies while you try to keep Legolas calm!   Hope you have a happy and peaceful Easter.

Luckly I have not had to keep Hawk quite.  I know when he starts to drive me crazy because he is bored I try to think what my life would be without him and he is forgiven for what ever he has done.

Hello Michelle,
It truly is a relieve to have both girls back to normal.
I really hope Legolas recovers fast as well, and that you can both survive the next weeks! Mind games really worked for my girls... hidding treats, food ball, treat puzzles and so on!

Michelle bad thing is I am addicted to dark chocolate! and I love popcorn but am trying to behave here.  Hoping you have a wonderful Easter and Legolas keeps improving each day.  I went to two pet stores today and am amazed at all the toys for dogs!  Some I just looked at and wondered who the heck would buy that silly thing as it would last about five minutes!  others I wanted to buy the lot as they had so many clever ideas ...Molly here loves all the puzzles she has to figure out how to get the food out of...but have to rotate and not overdo it with them as otherwise it is too easy for her.  Afraid  I did not behave in those pet stores today....just decided to replace a few much loved toys here and then got a wee bit carried away.

Hi Michelle,

35kg is really big!!! Romã's father was also that big, Pitanga looked like a tiny puppy next to the dog. You are right in not wanting him to get too heavy, it wouldn't be good for his arm. Please keep me posted on his recovery, I'm hopping for some good news fast =)

Happy easter to you all, and a special pat to Legolas, to make sure he keeps up his fast recovery!

Michelle...no pretty dresses for Molly...and not sure she would wear a coat even..though there was one pink dress that had me laughing outloud yesterday at the thought of dripping diva boa feathers as she walked.  Easter Egg?  dang Molly will have her own Easter Basket ( see how frustrated I am with grandkids 1200 miles away?) and I will hide some toys for her to find in the house ( too wet for outside).  She already stole one this week which has been the game here ...she steals it, hides it, brings it out for Alan to toss for her, then I ask her where she got that from and put it back where she found it only to have her retrieve it again. I know she is spoiled but that year without an IS or any dog in our lives she is reaping the benefits of! No I am not dressing up as the Easter Bunny for her!

We do have those mints here and we do like them also....dark chocolate and mint just seems to go together .  Do you flavor your popcorn or just do butter and salt?  Ido have a microwave popcorn popper here ...benefit to it is you use no oil in it so it is legal for Molly to have some as long as I don't add all the salt and butter to it .  She loves her small bowl of popcorn but wants us to toss it to her one at a time to eat it.   Hope you have a peaceful, relaxing Easter.

Michelle Legolas looks so cute in his little coat....I wonder if Molly would wear one here?  she hates being wrapped up in a bath towel to dry but>> thinking. I also hate that wet wooly smell...lucky here as in yucky weather Molly is content to run around in backyard with us watching from inside....she needs boots though big time! mud , Mud , mud could be her middle name lately.

I know Molly will at least get her basket tomorrow...chewies and new toy or two and some special doggie cookies but weather is supposed to be wet so debating on her Easter hunt this year....might postpone it til we have some dry weather as last year it was fun to watch her run around and discover things hidden in her wilderness cave..(under two bushes and has vines over it and she hollowed out a spot she can crawl into to try to get her birds) .  Not sure how much longer she will have her "cave" as we need to replace the fence so will see how things go tomorrow.  We have had run of rather bad storms here this past week and projected more rain for about four more days but keep reminding myself that April showers bring May flowers....just will probably be too wet to plant any in early May.

Walk sounds like a lot of fun and I am sorry that Legolas will not get to go this year but hope that very soon he can be out and about with you again.  I hope you have a wonderful Easter.
