Hi there Colette, thanks so much for the comments, if he lives long enough to go to a show I do hope that we will use all four legs and be able to stand as well as Aleks has got him, me I can't keep three of his legs on the ground at one time, little darling. Thanks again Dee and the gang
Thank you very much Colette, as you can imagine we were and still are on "Cloud 9". We have to keep looking at the ticket just to remind ourselves that it isn't just a lovely dream!!!
Thank you Colette for your kind words. I am immensely proud of all Louis children and so is he. Dearest chap is over the moon that Camilla's repeat mating has got of to a super start. Silke is on cloud nine and so are we all. xx
Thank you Colette,
No no Girly isnt à Greyhound, I'm sur her mummy and her Daddy are IS ;-)
Maybe her life before being an IS, it was a racing dog because she likes running as quickly possible ! ! ! Remembers you the video with the swallows.
All the best, Charlotte
Hi Colette, thanks for admiring the photo and also for your comment in the blog. I still plan to answer there - that way others can read a bit about some of the working discussions.
I have entered Glen for the 'Gundog Working Certificate' test at Reeth in March 2010. Getting nervous already...
best regards
Susan
Hi Colette
Thanks for your comment on Susan's Blog. I am a friend of Susan's since we met on Peter O'Driscoll's novice training week earlier this year and have been following that Blog. Is there something missing of the end as there is a gap and then a part line which leaves me hanging on the next gem.
As you say my first, Toby is a bit over trained. He had never had freedom without the boundaries of a small field and had not been trained further than knowing his name and coming in with other dogs after free running to be fed when I re homed him at 2 years old. I was very nervous about him going AWOL after he slipped his lead in a park on the edge of Oxford a few weeks after I picked him up and he went for a romp round the streets out to the ring road. Luckily he realized after a few minutes that I wasn't there and came back, retracing his steps to find me with the happiest smile on his face followed by a lady who said he had suddenly got very worried and she had followed him back to me. He is so friendly he would never be alone for long. Once I found my confidence with him I had to work hard to get him too cover a decent beat but with the help of a friend with treats I got him out one side and then the other. I still have to be so careful though that he doesn't lose track of me when he is out of site or he reverts to staying close. Unfortunately he has always wanted too turns to his right so he dose a tight loop back cast on my right unless I am ahead of him.
I am running Brier on a longer and longer line as he gets used to it and as you say I am working on the basis of not giving him a command unless I am confident he will obey or I can stand on the line. He stops OK on the whistle but he is a bit of a woos when it comes to flat down on wet grass. He recalls on three pips OK too and understands the turn though I am not doing to much of that as it is difficult to get everything in line with his butterfly puppy mind and as you say he is only 5 month and needs to enjoy being a puppy.
I had not realized I would need to become a member of more than one field trial society. I have three programs from 08-09 season so I need to get on with becoming a member of as many as I can then?
Thanks again and I hope we can at least have a good old chin wag soon as I would really value your experience too keep me on the right track.
Dave
