Speedy recovery my love! - new photo...

"She put my sexy body in the wash and because I was trying to lick my wound, I now have to wear this stupid pyjama! They also say, I am not allowed to run, because something they called serom developed at my belly and they want to keep it small. But I'm feeling much better and I'm getting a lot of food and attention, so I don't mind the pyjama that much and my belly is treated with a warm gel patch and lots of nice cuddles! Just thought of letting you know, Joyful."

Joy's health was a bit of a rollercoaster lately. Two month ago, she was in the clinic on a drip because of acute enteritis, but was recovering very quickly and we went to Italy again for the holidays. On coming home, she came into season and at the end of the three weeks, two days ago now, was bitten by another dog on her neck. When the pain killer did not do it's job yesterday eve and her back legs were trembling even when laying down, I checked her out and after discovering puss at her rear end, l rushed her back to the clinic with suspicion of pyometra. I was already reading about it on the internet, because she was in pain this time during her season and was therefore carefully watching her. It was all inflamed and full of puss and so she's spayed now. They made a drainage at her neck because of the dog bite and also removed sort of a talcum gland near her left eye. So she's quite stitched together now, but all went well and she's relaxed, hungry and already looking for cats again, when outside. The photo above was taken 24 hours after the op. I think she looks a bit sad, because her looks will go, but the blue-ish body from the vet suits her well and I made a stretchable neck towel for her, because the bandage on her neck does not keep very well. So speedy recovery my love and may you soon come with on tour again!

Dear Cornelia, Please give your beautiful bundle of Joy some gentle hugs and kisses from me, and Misty. I know with your diligent care and your great love of your precious Joy she will be enjoying her walks on tour with you again very soon, and I do not believe Joy will lose her looks. I am thinking of you all. Susan and Misty xxxxx

Oh dear, you all have been having a bad time of it. Per the spaying...our Molly came home already spayed.....and while we fight Orange fluff I don't think it's made her any less beautiful. Her fluffy parts we keep trimmed as brambles love to tangle it. I'm so sorry you all are going thru this on top of dealing with her dog bite. Hoping no lasting fears of other dogs due to it. Hugs to you all and an extra hug to beautiful Joy.

Thank you all for your nice comments and wishes. The remark about her looks was jokingly meant - her health is more important than that and I'm sure we'll find a way to keep her nice looking:-). Traveling might be a bit easier, although, we never had problems, even when being on heat in Italy! I'm glad though, that she chose a time for being sick, when we were not on tour in the middle of nowhere!

Silvia, the drainage on the neck will come out on Monday; the stitches will be another ten days. So far all wounds are healing well and she is obviously feeling well in her body - and skin (photo taken just now):

Cornelia,

I knew you put her health first...I just wanted to reassure you that no matter what they're beautiful.Happy to hear Joy is feeling so much better.Long ago on here we discussed spay coat...and I posted picture of Molly and its stayed pretty much as it was all those years ago.Molly would be jealous of Joy' s outfit as she equates outfits to party times (we have to hide that pumpkin costume as Molly knows it means extra petting and attention from everyone in the neighborhood). They sure do bounce back faster than we do..we'll still be worrying about their operation while they're worrying about what's roaming in their yard.Keep us posted on Joy' s recovery.
