Thanks again Chantal for your comment on my photo of Mitch. It is my favourite photo of him - to me there is a certain rightness (for want of a better word) of how he fits in with the landscape - I think you noticed this too. The area of moorland in the photo is on our door step and where we regularly walk.

Really enjoyed your puppy photos and the one of Colonel MC - he was a very handsome chap.

Best wishes

Tony

Hi Chantal
not all afghans run away we were at a show standing outside the ring with a few people and affies when one lady said to her affie well your done so you can go back to your crate she dropped the lead and the dog ran back to their canopy and stood in front of his crate passing lots of other dogs and canopies, I stood there astounded. I said to my wife did you see that? So the lady called him back Dally (his name) she motioned with her hands the dog came back stood next to her then she sent him back again to show it was not a fluke . There is another lady on the show scene who does agility with her affie so all is not lost if you want to get one. If you have a place they can run free they will run themselves silly for 10 min. then sleep for the rest of the day. They are a much more docile dog than the Irish. The toughest time is when their coat changes this can take some time but if you enjoy grooming like we do it's all good. cheers Peter

Mitch has recovered just great from the op. In fact I think he looks in better shape now than he has done for several months. We've enjoyed some recent walks up in the hills now the weather's improved. I'll take the camera the next time we are up there and try and get a couple of nice pics.

Thanks for asking about him.

Chantal...Darwin is such a lovely boy....love the puppy pictures of him....but only problem looking at them is they are making me want a puppy to keep Molly company!  Fun to watch how he has grown....and can tell you all feel the same way about your Irish as we do here.

Hi Chantal, Thanks for the warm welcome! I have been lurking on the forum and reading up on the discussions, I'll have to check my page more often! ;-) I just went over to look at your page and your Darwin is beautiful!

I will definitely announce his arrival and provide photos, right now I'm looking for puppies in the San Francisco Bay Area and talking to breeders, so it will likely be a little while. I'm fencing the back yard in preparation now so I won't have a "four county dog"

Although a little time will be good to line up training classes and get prepared, I fear it will be much longer than I need. Finding the right dog for me is definitely worth the wait, so I'll just have to be patient! In the meantime I'm reading up on the board... there is a lot more information available than there was when I had my last setter!

Hi Chantal, many thanks for the welcome.I live in UK and am looking for a Wendover as we had one as kids - Dinah, so placid and laid back - until the rubbish men came and her territory was being invaded. It was the only time she barked very very loudly! The decibels went off the scale! My own 2 have now passed away - They were Hartsfell but the breeder now longer breeds them Both Max and later Rufus were so intelligent - noboby will ever tell me ISs are not!! Now I have retired from the Army its time to get my next setter. I am coming to San Francisco (not to buy as I will have to get from UK) and then crossing US by Amtrack late next Sep  - would love to meet Darwin if possible. Getting the right setter will be worth the wait and I hope to have another after my hols. All the best,  Sally.

Hi Chantal - again, Don't know what I was thinking - I know you don 't live in San F - my mind must have registered someone else as I have been reading all the forums!! Time frame on my 1st reply is a bit out - I am not usually up at 4.30am. It is in fact now 9,30am!!.All the best, Sally.
