From Show Dog to House Pet?

I'm considering adopting an alpha 3 yr. old male I.S. show dog (retired) that was rejected for being too large by judges. He has never lived in a house, only a kennel. Do I need a trainer? Any advice for converting him to family household pet?

I've had the pleasure of being second home to several show dogs ( not previously kennelled, by the way) and they've enjoyed the extra attention they get when they're part of a small household. Also they travel well and have been quite disciplined and well-behaved through their show training.
