In the interest of respect being shown to people who have replied to this post honestly I am closing this post. A sense that a group of ES members are playing games with those honest comments for their own amusement is very strong and it is not what the forum is for. Thank you to every one who has contributed. Kind regards Rhonda

Susan your comments are sound, they do not contradict themselves. You have a very generous nature in explaining your self over and over.

It is sad that Victoria has now had to legislate to try to make purchasing a puppy a reasonable thing for some one to do. Pups must now be advertised with their microchip number or the registered breeders number so that breeders can be held accountable. Very much a breeder beware situation. This is what happens when too many breeders have the 'Buyer beware attitude' and feel justified in using it.

It is sad if this is how we let it slide Susan. I am not looking for a pup but it is important that good examples of our breed are available to new people in a very open manner. Hence the post as I am concerned about this trend that is sneaking in. The kennel name, the face of the breeder and no information on the actual dogs. If indeed there is no problem in judging a show dog by a face and kennel type it makes me wonder what are we actually offering.

I see why the Kennel Club and Dogs Vic feel they need to push information for the general public. There is a real awareness to make the public aware of what their rights are, what is a healthy pup and what the breeder should be offering as service with their new companion.
Another simple solution or pe…tag:irishsetters.ning.com,2012-06-24:865021:Comment:9580442012-06-24T12:36:02.939ZRhonda Fisherhttps://irishsetters.ning.com/profile/RhondaFisher

Another simple solution or perhaps not a solution is when you see breeders very proud of their Sire and Dam announcing with photos of each that there will be a litter in the future. I do admire Breeders that take such pride in the individual dogs and not just rely on a kennel name and a statement about winning in the ring. It gives me the feeling that the individual dogs being matched and the resulting pups are the most important thing to the breeder.

I did not think I would need to spell it out. Obviously any purchaser, unless they were mentally impaired, would not allow themselves to be forced to buy any purebred dog from any breeder and if they did not like the advertisement, they would definitely not go there. I do not consider this to be sound advice. I consider these words to be nonsense and completely irrelevant.

Re Sue's words: In this country, there is a saying "buyer beware," surely a sensible potential owner wouldn't buy a pup just on the basis of the names of the sire and dam and a few pretty pictures. Why write these words? This is basic common sense. These words have absolutely nothing to do with what I have said.

It is a waste of my time contributing further to this discussion. The same members gang up on anyone who does not agree with their opinions.
Susan, please tell me where the nonsense is in Nobody is forcing potential owners to buy from a particular breeder, so if you don't like the advertisment, don't go there..... I think that is very sound advice.

I am not making assumptions. You are also not reading what I am writing. In fact I consider some of your comments to be nonsense e.g. your words: Nobody is forcing potentail owners to buy from a particular breeder, so if you don't like the advertisement, don't go there.......simple! This has no relationship whatsoever to what I have said and does not make any sense.

Susan, I have tried to explain to you my experiences of 'pet owners', that is all. I stand by all my comments in respect of this. I feel you have misunderstood me and completely ignored everything I have said. However. it has not been my wish to upset you and I apologise for any statement you feel I made about you that was untrue.
