Joy is 13.5 today!!

Defying the odds, our lovely bundle of fur called Joy is still with us! She is in need of much care now and since a few weeks, she's getting a bit slow and weaker on her hind legs. We were however given a lovely summer with many short walks in the Alps and whenever she got tired, she could ride in a dog trailer. She is always thirsty due to the medication and loves a good splash in a fresh mountain brook.

We also enjoyed the spring meadows in the mountains - years ago, we were up on that mountain in the background, but that was before, we had Joy - the area here however is always gorgeous:

This June, she still managed to climb uphill and like a real setter, jumped into every muddy trickle, she could find:

I'm ever so glad, we fought for her life back in January this year and that she was given another chance! To care for her is quite an effort, however she is more than worth it with all the Joy she brought to our lives and look, what we would have missed all through the year without her in it! Of course, I hope the first photo is not the last, but we also know that every day is a gift now.

Bless you all! Cornelia and Joy xxx

    Dear Cornelia and Joy

I decided to check ES just now to see how you were going and I am absolutely delighted to read your post. Joy looks particularly beautiful in the first photo. Her eyes look very bright too. I feel so happy for all of you. I planned to buy Hobson a cart/trailer but unfortunately Hemangiosarcoma got in the way. Please give Joy some gentle hugs from me. I sincerely hope Joy is with you for quite some time to come. Lots of Love from Susan and Misty xxxx

    Dear Susan,

Thank you for you nice words and that you were checking ES because of our lovely girl! I like that first photo too with the morning sun in her eyes and I thought of making a print and hang it on the wall of our new camper van, so that her memory is always with us even when she'd gone. We cannot travel far with her anymore; we tried this Autumn and she certainly would love to but it is too strenuous for her now.

    Love Cornelia and Joy xxx

    Dear Cornelia

I feel making a print of Joy's first photo and hanging it on the wall of your new camper van is a wonderful idea. Throughout my little home I have photos of all my dogs and my horses who are no longer with me in my physical life. It helps me cope with living the remainder of my life without them. I admire you very much for taking such good care of Joy. She loves you even more. Lots of love from Susan and Misty xxxx
