Hi Brad,
I am sure you will enjoy.
With the "six degrees of separation" issue, no doubt you will find some interesting connections through the Irish, as I have just done with Barbara Simpson.
It is pouring here and cold.
Enjoy your heat,
Bye for Now,
Myra.
Hi Brad,
The most progress I have made is that I have found a Kennel Club within reasonable driving distance for me to sign up for handling classes. I have not signed up yet, but I plan to this fall and winter.
I had a couple leads on some people in different breeds who could have helped me but I have been... "snubbed" is the only word I can think of, lol.
I hope to get some classes under my belt and hit the spring and summer shows hard. You wouldn't, by chance, be a fabulous teacher within the Cincinnati area? Of course not :)
Your profile indicated that you would like suggestions.
You may get more than you wanted:)
I'm a novice (2.5 years) also so here are some suggestions:
You will find mentor types at the schools and shows so hang in there. If I were to do it again I would go to classes and shows before entering. Take your dog with you to the shows (if you can) for socialization of the dog (they need to get used to the noise and many other dogs around). Also, you can get used to the ring procedures. Just have fun.
Show calendars are available on www.infodog.com or www.showdays.info (both are free). You may find UKC events locally at www.ukcdogs.com
Thanks Brad for you congrats. We had some super results over the 3dys of shows but the Specialty win was THE BEST.
My beautiful "Alex" (Aust,Indian,Mexican,International,Brazilian,Paraguay,Uraguay Ch ) really did us proud in the Siring department.
Cheers,
Anne-Marie
Thanks so much. I have a boy that we are waiting for papers to come from Canada. I am loving this sport. It has been a blast. He happened to finish the day before my 50th birthday. Talk about a present. :>
Hi Brad! Well I am proud to have Kelsey! He has been a great addition to my life and I love getting to know him and this breed. I have known an English Setter (through a friend), and I find that Kelsey seems to have a lot in common with him behavior-wise.
I'm not quite sure how to read or reply on this site yet. I will be at the Big Apple on thursday and the combinrd Saturday and Sunday.. I will have Gator and Kaige all 3 days.
