Looks like the IRish Setter has now got a good home and glad she is a bit stronger than she was. It's surprising what love and tender care can do for them. She looks a sweet girl. What is her name?

The first Irish Setter I owned was called Magic but we called her Maggie most of the time. She too was a lively one but I was lucky to see her at 2, 4, and 6 weeks and bring her home at 8 weeks old and had her for the rest of her life. My husband had a collie as a puppy who stayed with us on the farm into old age, she was a lovely dog but would guard everything even him and sometimes would growl and not let me get into his car even though I had known her from a puppy.

    Hi Leonor,
Have just logged on and saw that you are new here. A very warm welcome to our group. Your Irish girl Maggie looks gorgeous. I just love the 'oldies' to bits. She is a very lucky girl to have you adopt her. I have been reading your 'discussion' on coat care, and I'm sure her coat will improve very quickly now she has her own home & is happy and has a good diet.
I have two Setters, one Irish & one English. We got them both as baby puppies together and they are now 7yrs.

Again welcome & love to your lovely lady.

Great to find someone else interested in obedience competition on this site! :-)
  • ursula wilby

I have three obedience champions in a row (Irish setters) - FCI-rules...but I have almost given up competing after so many years of constant training I feel I have done my bit.
If I ever start again in a serious way...I will get a border collie...:-)
