I have 2 border collies and in the midle of May I've offerd to look after a red setter that has been rescuded. She's an old (between 10 and 12 years old) but lovely girl. Ofcourse she's not going anywhere - she's staying with me...
Looks like the IRish Setter has now got a good home and glad she is a bit stronger than she was. It's surprising what love and tender care can do for them. She looks a sweet girl. What is her name?
The first Irish Setter I owned was called Magic but we called her Maggie most of the time. She too was a lively one but I was lucky to see her at 2, 4, and 6 weeks and bring her home at 8 weeks old and had her for the rest of her life. My husband had a collie as a puppy who stayed with us on the farm into old age, she was a lovely dog but would guard everything even him and sometimes would growl and not let me get into his car even though I had known her from a puppy.
welcome leonor to exclusivley setters its so nice to see maggie has settled in her new home .i read her story of been rescued on eduardas page .she looks lovely and so glad her latter years are going to be with a family who will love and care for her
Hi Leonor,
Have just logged on and saw that you are new here. A very warm welcome to our group. Your Irish girl Maggie looks gorgeous. I just love the 'oldies' to bits. She is a very lucky girl to have you adopt her. I have been reading your 'discussion' on coat care, and I'm sure her coat will improve very quickly now she has her own home & is happy and has a good diet.
I have two Setters, one Irish & one English. We got them both as baby puppies together and they are now 7yrs.
Again welcome & love to your lovely lady.

Thanx for sharing photos of your dogs and cats. You all look wery happy. How old are the two border collies and the cats? How are they getting along?
You must have a very big bed if all of you sleep on it. ;))

I have three obedience champions in a row (Irish setters) - FCI-rules...but I have almost given up competing after so many years of constant training I feel I have done my bit.
If I ever start again in a serious way...I will get a border collie...:-)

Best wishes,
