How long have you owned Irish Setters?
we got our first red setter on new years eve 1976 and had them ever since
About Me:
i am an housewife and i have owned 3 setters since 1976 .
Believe it or not, you think that you are joking, there is already one, a waiting list that is. I have to see if they all turn out like they seem to be doing. They still are looking really good, the heads are so lovely, I am just keeping my fingers crossed that they are all going to be as good, as they seem to be. Speak soon Dee and the gang
HI Lyn, Thanks for the info, we are all okay, Jake had a first and Oscar was reserve in his class at last weekends show.
by the way my monies on Stuart Grey at Northampton.
Take care Neil
It's sad about the eye sight. Better in some respects never to have known sight to start with. Glad she seems to be adapting.
One of our previous dogs was fed on tripe and I do think it's necessar to find the right food for Fergus. Always seem to land up with left overs which por Sultan has to finish up. EG after his operation we had to feed on a special diet which came in tins and landed up with 20 when changing over to the next "new" diet. Sultan has had about 10 so it's another 10 to finish! I've contaced the ISBC who are being proactive also the ISAE but not sure about them. Wa accused of "sensationalising" the situation!
hi,
Will let everyone know how we get on next week. Just got back from work in the UK and Elaine said that this afernoon he bloated very badly for absolutely no change in routine at all! It's like chasing ones tail 24/7!!!
Hi there Lyn thanks for the comment on the Xmas picture, I now have another feeding ring, so life is so much easier now, Saffy has done a wonderful job, now all I have to do is get some weight on her, she has put ''all of herself'' into them but not too bad, they are eating well and peeing and pooing well so all is ''well'' here, I am so looking forward to the next few weeks, just watching them grow...Must go and feed everyone ''again'' will speak soon Dee and the gang
It's not our first success with here. But it's the first one since i'm a member of exclusivly setters. In July she became best puppy in show in a dogshow in Belgium. And last month she was best of breed in another dogshow in Belgium.
She is realy amazing in the ring. A natural talent . Luxemburg was her first success outside of Belgium.
She's only 10 month. So we hope she will be able to compete on a high level when she's fully grown.
Which one is the latest Activity page, can't seem to find it...just call me thick, but can't seem to find it, I know that it was on my page somewhere. Dee and the gang
Hi Lyn - I have banned a couple members in the last week. I can't recall the names. It seems that Ning sometimes has difficulty in removing all content from an unwelcome visitor during the banning/deleting process. Could that be it?
I am a wee bit of a dummy as far as this computer thing is concerned I can just about get by with it, I learned to type in the 3rd year of my secondary School, only a couple of years ago, I wish...but have retained the knowledge (and they thought that I would never get it, let alone hang on to it, typing that is) just goes to show, that an Elephant doesn't forget, eh!!!
Puppies are growing, and what a year for large litters, don't envy Jean and Noelle with their huge litter, and their Frisbee did it all by herself, what a clever girl.... My babies are growing really really fast at the moment, over 6lb a lot of them, having trouble fitting them into the bowl that I weigh then in, they keep climbing out, or just falling out.. Standing pictures tonight, will try and get them posted soon.. Love to you all .Dee and the gang
Thank you for your email. Good to hear from you and I appreciate your interest. Basically Monday's visit confirmed a continuation of the same medication although trying to find a better balance of doses. But some blood was taken for some more tests and the results won’t be back until later in the week.
The specialist didn’t think that putting the pup through more surgery would yield anything new re biopsy etc . Actually quite a refreshing attitude as distinct from many UK vets who generally thinks all is okay as the Insurance company will pay! And, after an hours consultation as I said with the local vet in attendance as well (to help with the language problem) he refused to take any fee as he felt that he hadn’t contributed anything new!! I’m still speechless!!!!
As soon as I get the results I’ll be letting everyone know. He has had a bad week but is looking a bit better yesterday and today!

Hi Lyn. Layla is realy a special girl. And she is enjoying her life fully. This can be seen on pictures. I and Allegro are glad to have such girls as you, Layla & Lucy for a friend. This landscape on your last pictures I realy like. It reminds me to Pokljuka in Slovenia. Best Regards, Robert

Hi there Lyn
OMG they are lovely, she looks so happy, they are wonderful, brought a tear...Where did you get the collar from????? I could do with something like that, saves all the explanation as to why she clings on to the first human in the area.
You must be so happy that she is so obviously happy, such a big grin on her face...
Wonderful pictures Lyn
Love to all Dee and the gang
Sorry about not letting you know that I did get your email I have tried to order but still having a problem with payments etc, but they are the wonderful things. I won't have to keep explaining to people why she has come and started pestering them...
I will let you know when I get them, won't be for a few weeks though..thanks again Dee and the gagn
WOW, Lyn - what tremendous photos! Too many to individually comment on, but what a thrill seeing all those Seals. An absolute privilege, and grateful Thanks for allowing us to share them.

Thank you for your lovely comments on the 'boy' he is coming on really well I saw the pictures and couldn't believe that I had breed him..All the best to you and yours Dee and the gang
Lyn, Hello there and thank you for your interest. Unfortunately we aren't making much progress. He continues to bloat with ever increasing frequency. We went back last week to see the consultant who did some more tests and changed his diet. But it hasn't made much difference! We are due back for the third appointment this coming Monday where they will carry out an Endoscope and also try to take some more stomach tissue samples. So it's fingers crossed and hope but at the moment all I do is bang my head against a very imoveable brick wall
Peter
Hi there Lyn
Thanks again for the lovely comments I just thought that it would be nice to thank everyone such as yourself for all the lovely positive comments form everyone.
Thanks again Dee and the gang
I hope that you also have a great Holiday. The photo that you ahve up of your Layla is jus so adorbale. I am sorry to hear that she has lost her sight. I am glad to know that she has a loving family. Im one of those people that adopts the dogs that are not wanted due to an illness or disability. Dogs are so resiliant they dont see disability they only know ability. We had a scare the other day with our English Setter. My fiance was out on the 4 wheeler plowing some snow and he was comming down the hill and Bazil ran infront of the plow. Mike locked up the breaks but hit Bazil and he went flying. about 10 feet int he air. I was horrified. I ran out with a blanket and my stethescope everything sounded ok, lungs, gut, legs head. I wont ever forget that sight or the sound of Bazil yell when he got hit. But he seems ok running around eating pooping playing with the other two dogs. My red and white setter is having a ball witht his snow digging all day long. fortunately she had dug out the oil pipe for the delivery guy. We have almost a foort of snow and she is the only one that comes in with filty paws. But we love her
Hi Lyn,
yes he did have a lucky escape and he seems no worse for the incident. He was my shadow for about a week after it happened. i just cant get over how beautiful your Layla is. I was never a setter kind of person I tened more towards the Beagles and German shorthair pointers. But your baby is jsut so adorable I would not be able to resist her face. Our dogs love the snow. We had another snow on Monday only a little bit but our pups began to get all jacked up about 24 hours before it occured. They are better forcasters than the people who get paid to do it!! Brie is sitting next to me as I write this to you. She is ready to go lay down on the bed. I have my jewlery book and my beads so she knows that I will be heading to the bedroom soon and Bazzy had his boo boo pills. And non dog peole think dogs are dumb. The bead store that I go to is having their inventory clearance sale and I got some good stuff and there was a kit for a class that I could not take as I was hooked up to an I.V. in the hospital. So I will look at that tonight. I hope all is well with you and your family and please give Layla a big hug and kiss from us.
Melissa
Hello,
I’m so happy to hear your kindly words and comments about my little red head, MIRA
Sorry for not replying earlier..
But you can’t imagine ( yes, you can!) how busy and tried I am during this difficult
period with a playful and hyperactive puppy such as Mira…
But she is so cute and tries to learn and understand everything in her new home,
new surroundings, even in her new country…
She is really irresistible and doing her best:-)
I’m sure she will be very happy with us as well as our dear Maya…
I wish all your family joyful moments with Layla:-)
With love from İstanbul
