How long have you owned Irish Setters?
Nearly 7 years - but dreamed of owning them for 25 years
About Me:
I live in Perth, Western Australia, and have always had a passion for Irish Setters. It took me 30 years to get my first - and it was WELL worth the wait! Currently showing my Irish boy, and have just registered my breeding prefix, Anmadradh, with hopes of beginning my own kennel in the near future.
We are now 41/2 weeks, you said that yours is now just, I think, one week??? but nothing in it, lucky we don't live near each other....we would be fighting for the same people to buy the puppies. If I get any left over, if I even sell them all I will send them to you....
Hey how many litters have you had????I have only had three so far, two Irish and one Akita, and I was nearly 20 years younger, but hard, you bet its hard, and I have two small kids to look after, (a nearly two year old and a nearly four year old) rather crate them than the dogs...I think that it isn't the newborns, they kind of look after themselves, its when they get to three or four weeks onward, that's when it gets hard, they po and pee all the time and when you put paper down they shred it first and then po and pee on it, messy little persons. Ah well time will tell, if I am still alive in three months time, I think that it will be a miracle, still they say miracle's do happen, All the best speak soon Dee and the girls...;o))
Well have done both my babies and the dogs babies, and I am doing it all again, I have my two grandchildren during the day for the weekdays (I get the weekends off, well mostly) and now hopefully am getting puppies on the 1st August, Saffy is suffering from the heat (I hope) she has the most dreadful diarrhoea, at the moment...So probably off to the vet again...I have just said to someone else that I think that I am putting the vets children through school and probably collage.
Good luck with your forthcoming event. And if we have puppies successfully I will be posting pictures, lots of pictures..Dee and the girls
Hi there Melinda!
Thank´s för nice comments on my blog:-)) And I just have to admit that I am a little proud of my puppies;-)

Happy Belated Birthday, Melinda. Sorry, it has been hectic here, and I seem to have lost a couple of days!!
Hope all is well with you and Niamh.Has your life changed much???!!!!

Thank you so much for the comment on Ivy and her foal, Melinda! The greatest pleasure was the fact that it was at one point uncertain if the foal would live at all...and then she did so well! :-)
Keeping busy I suppose? Having ONE baby makes you realise what it would be like to have a huge litter!!!!!!!! Thank god we humans dont...one is more than enough to keep you going! :-)
No wonder I have 12 years between my two children! (And to the day as well, both born on the 12th of june)
I felt I was NEVER getting any sleep at all, and then people tell you it gets worse...HA!
Something to look forward to is when they become teenagers...:-) But even that passes...and mine are now quite sensible and well-behaved. (Never thought I would see the day :-)
I have a friend that had twins and that WAS something else! She was so funny...telling me she would strangle the next old lady that peeped in to her pram and said: "Oh TWO! You are so lucky!"
One would constantly wake the other...
I think we are only designed to cope with one at a time (and in my case...12 years appart).
Yes, they do have those times, don't they!? I know with my boys, some days they just wanted to feed all day - only thing that soothed them! Hope she settles now and you can get some rest.
Hi Melinda,
Yes I can said that she is the true Dooley's daughter ! ! !
I always look if she is a chickadee's daughter, probably yes but . . . where ??? ;-)
Hi Melinda,
how's life down under? Is Niamh up to real mischief yet???
Thanks for the comment, it may well become part of my Coppersheen calender 2010...
all the best

Hi Melinda,
how are you and the new baby? Sophy, Maia's Mum was ultrasounded yesterday and the vet saw 5 puppies, probably more as she is only 3 weeks and 1 day. The dad is Silvagem First Edition (Imp. UK). I will post photos when they are born.
Cheers,
Carmel
Hi Melinda,
thanks for your lovely comments on my photos, I'm glad you like my boy :)
warm greetings to you and your family, specially to your sweet daughter - Niamh!

Thankyou, Melinda. Yes, the highs and lows, heh? I thought we were finishing the year, at last on a high note....thinking positively, we were lucky enough to have so many wonderful years with Bumble. Old Father Time has sadly caught up. She has been one in a million, and we have so many happy memories to laugh over.I like to think that she, like all the others, will quietly stay by our sides.

Hello Melinda and thank you so much for the kind comment on my blog about Ivy. A great horse and a much missed family member. And yes, its good to at least have her daughter left.
Hi Melinda, Merry Christmas to you and all your family, human & fur.
Carmel let me know that Seamus's mother is Sophy (& father Brodie), so I guess we are definitely related!
Cheers Jacky & Seamus xx
Hi Melinda,
just to say a quick hi and hope that you and Glenn and baby Niamh are all doing well. We have had dreadful heat over here....I think you have also had some of that as well. Hope all the fur-kids are well.
Regards,
Carmel
Hi Melinda,
we have had some dreadfully hot days here as well. Will need to move to an air-conditioned house...for the dogs as well!
I am very pleased with the pups. Have also got one from a Kirkavagh bitch that came to Brodie. She had 16 pups poor thing...only 15 survived though.
Lovely to hear from you, hope you and the family are well.
Cheers,
Carmel

Thanks Melinda. Mac and Annabelle are not brother and sister but they are both half-siblings to Maia. Brodie is Annabelle's dad and Sophy is Mac' mum.

It certainly is rough weather here, but not like they are getting in some areas - yours included, I think? I thought the drought might break gently!!!!
Hi Melinda. Your new pup looks fabulous. I have to agree that the quarantine rules are over the top, especially as she is so young. Look after her well and good luck with her in the future.
