Profile Information:

How many Irish Setters do you have?
22
How long have you owned Irish Setters?
40 years
About Me:
Absolutely dedicated to the breed, along with English Setters.
Born in England, I moved to Australia as a child, and in my teens started importing Irish Setters from Wendover Kennels, and English Setters from Suntop Kennels. My latest Irish imports in 2004, 2009 and another in 2013 are all from the beautiful Copper's Kennel in Sweden.
I am a qualified Championship Judge for All Gundogs and the Non Sporting Group, and an Open Show Judge for all Toys, Terriers and Hounds.
My judging takes me all over the world, something I enjoy immensely.

Yes, we need to see the full team...Marge and you, will you bring her along to Sweden? And ever thought of trying to see what the south looks like?
    Guestroom available...with seaview...

Great to see your Dame Edna...just loved it!
And yes Ines is doing well, but feels that she has almost done her bit when it comes to her brood. Laying on a silk-pillow and charging through the garden is more her style than feeding her offspring...but they are huge and fat, so she is doing her bit...but not quite the dedicated setter-style! :-)

    I'll give you $20

Hi Myra...thanks for the nice comment!!! I don't usually manage to get a good action photo of Lola...she usually has her nose to the ground...but the buttercups are so tall now ...she has to jump...Abbi, on the other hand runs about leaping like a deer...hence most of the action shots are of her...!!! Hope you have a wonderful trip to UK...I would wear the outfit if I were you...at Crufts it was sooo difficult to recognise people...!!! take care...Sammi

Hi Myra thank you. Family live in Turramurra NSW and we returned at the end of April this year after 6 weeks. We were lucky enough to go to the NSW championship show and met up with Helen who moved to Canberra from the UK with her 3 Irish 2 years ago. Love Aus almost as much as I love the Reds!! Haven't made it over to the West yet but think we may fly into Perth next time and travel across to Sydney by whatever means we come across.

Hi Myra, yes, Bridget is doing well. We are still working with her car sickness. The ginger tabs don't seem to work all the time, so going to the chemist to see what else I can get. Otherwise, she is enjoying her outings and we are doing a little tracking training too!. cheers

  • Kerstin Thaens

Hi Myra, today I saw your blog and was fascinated by your amazing photos. Thanks! Right now I am reading a book by Bill Bryson "Down under" - a very entertaining masterpiece in travel literature! But that is not the reason why I am writing that message. While driving home from work I was thinking of your blog and the curious Australian signposts. One of my hobbies - beside setters and horses - is photography and I am working on a poster (no commercial use, just private) of German signs. I wanted to ask you if you could send me some photos of Australian signposts (in full size) so that I can use them as part of my poster. I am sending you a sample of the poster if you want. My e-mail is: summer@fidom.de
    Best wishes, Kerstin

    Hi Myra,
I have had setters since 1979 my first dog came from St Andrews by Sire All Square Micky Finn owned by Jimmy Johnstone. I have been hooked ever since. We currently have an English called Lennon age 6 and a young Irish called Duke age 2. Your dogs look great!

  • Marjolein Bogaard

Thjank you very much Myra, very much appreciated. Tessieke was a wonderful dog and even she was not mine but my best friend's, it feels like I have lost my dog, since we walked together every day. It all went so fast and it is very hard to believe that she is not there anymore.... The puppies of Witch were born on 14th of July, same day as you, same day as Tessieke was born...
    Best Wishes xxx Marjolein
  • Claire Prangle

No I haven't, glad you are home safe and sound
  • Dee Rance

Hope that you had a good journey back home, I bet your 'family' were pleased to see you. Nice meeting you, hope you had a good day, despite the cold
  • Dee Rance

Ah well they always say that it is always better on the other side of the fence. Glad you had a good time, those sheds are dreadful but if it is raining (as it did) its better under there than out in the open or in tents, don't suppose you have much of that kind of problem ''down under''
all the best Dee and the gang
  • Dee Rance

We are let to believe that it is warm all the time, and then it gets warmer. We had extream snow this year, and it killed a lot of the garden plants that obviously need to be fairly hardy here, my Yukka died but is starting to sprout again, I could still do with some warmth.....;o))
  • Peter Hennig

    Hi Myra

  • Jennifer Martin

Thank you for the Birthday Wishes very much appreciated, don't think I'll be up for celebrating this year, have been very lax keeping up with people on here as my wonderful husband Roy has been diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer possibly asbestos related and is undergoing chemo, it has been a huge shock but a friend grounded me and put me back in the here and now by saying 'non of us know if we have tomorrow' - but I am hoping the chemo will buy us some time - he still has thing's to do!.
Had thought Rio would mark a new beginning of us walking over the hills and far away once again but not to be. Rio keeps us occupied and entertained with his antics, he is feeling ignored so has just run around the dining room table with a duster - funny how I always have to go the long way round in the chase!.
Thank you once again for the Birthday Wishes xxx Jennifer
