I live on 17 acres, north of Mackay, Central Queensland, Australia with my husband, Paul and my two sons, Kelvin and Mitchell with our dogs, horses, cows, goats and chooks.
I have owned and loved UK Type Irish Setters since 1988 when I got my first male Irish from Mary Clarke and Norm Clarke from the Rhuboda Kennel in Brisbane, Queensland. I then also bought a female from Rhuboda and bred my first litter in 1992. Since then I have owned Irish Setters from the Kelliher, Brazenwinds, Linleymvorne and Nanyima Kennels. In 2010, I imported a lovely female puppy from the Millcroft Kennel in UK to restart my breeding program.
Currently I have:
Emby (Brazenwinds Maybe ET) 13yrs;
Clancy (Aust Ch. Nanyima City Clan TD) 3 yrs;
Bridget (Aust Ch. Millcroft Moon Dreamer imp UK) 2 yrs;
2010 In Memoriam:
Monty (Aus Ch. Kelliher Regal Red CD. ET) 11yrs 9mths - RIP 23/01/2010.
Hi Cherrl, Sorry for the slow response, I was in Sweden all week. How fantastic. She's beautiful. I didn't realise that you were having Charley's sister, though June said that one of the girls was bound for Aus.
Bridget looks so much like her mum Katie. We must keep in touch and watch them grow together.
Have a wonderful weekend
hi cheryl morgan had a tumor on his liver that was not repairable the vet said it would be better if he didn't wake up. you would never have known he was sick there was no sign until a couple of weeks ago i felt a lump at the back of his ribs i thought it was his stomach as he wolfs down his food. i loved him more than anyone knows i'll miss him dreadfully
Sounds like a pretty good start to the day! Jolly cold over here again this morning. We had a frosty field a couple of days ago, and some of the days have been freezing too!
Hi Cheryl
Been freezing down here in Ballarat.
How's your new baby Bridget???
My new boy Baloo is settling in well.
I am really missing Elton,but know Peter needed him after the loss of Morgan.
Broke my heart to part with him.
Am up to my eyeballs (long weekend and lot's of borders in the kennels.)
Also running between here and home (getting renovations done on my cottage at Gordon!!! must be mad!!)
But best time to be doing them,with it being empty at the moment.
Everything is fine ,,,,saw the pictures.....be glad when you can have her home...but not long now........hard to believe its over a year ago now seems to have come round so quickly
Hi Cheryl
Elton has brought some beautiful joy into our home he is just great a very soft and gentle sole. He has helped to ease the loss of Morgan. Elton's sire is amhurst alroadsleadtnome and his dam is solasdas fire of fortune. His grandfather is Morgans sire. We will show him in late july at this stage cheers Peter
Hi Cheryl
have fun with bridgit puppies are medicine for the sole . Elton was Marie's pick of the litter and she very generously let us have him so yes solasdas walk like a man is his kennel name
cheers Peter
Hi Cheryl, thank you, you have some beautiful pics of your 'red' family. Our 2 legged family live in Turramurra NSW and although we do some travelling when we're over it's mostly spent around the Sydney area I think I've probably fallen in love with Sydney!! We got as far North as Brisbane a couple of years ago and as far south as Melbourne. This year we spent our time South & North of Sydney as well as sometime in Canberra. Hamilton and Micawber prefer it when we're here especially Micawber who at 1 year old (yesterday) is just a naughty adolescent we all want them to grow up and then miss their 'clowning' around.
thank you for your message.. mum is doing well for her first time litter. Erin went to check how she was doing and got the bums rush.. Erin has been and checked since just to make sure her daughter is ok.. Keely used to do the same with Erin .. Erin loves puppies and was a lovely mum and taught her daughters well..
Hi Cheryl - Glad you are enjoying the site. Not sure where the music went. I sent a question into Ning Support. Will let you know if I hear anything back from them on it.
Owner of Dubliner Tiger Woods is her own breeder Ann Palenski, Kennel Dubliner. She lives in Sweden. I don't think she has a page in ES, but she has a website: http://www.dublinerann.com/index.html
Charlie is a real kleptomaniac, nothing he likes better than to steal something and take it down the garden. Recent items include:
cabbage, nans new while coat, Barbie dolls (he really loves those, but he's not so keen on Ken).
Keegan is "American Grand Champion Greengate Buzz Lightyear" the other dog I imported semen from in the USA. He's number 2 Irish setter over there, I have 2 babies from him, Morgan and Kendra 10 months old. Maggie, from Jason is going well we got Best of Breed 3 days in a row at Albury a few weeks ago and Intermediate in group twice. They're all entered for the Melbourne Royal on Friday. We went to the National in Oconomowoc earlier this year Pat was't there. I just got back from the US last thursday I saw Keegan go best of breed both days at the Denver shows, over 2000 dogs entered.
Dry Land Mushing is dogs pulling rigs/scooters/bikes instead of sleds
What they do in Alaska with Huskies we do it here in Ireland on wheels
Have a look here www.tailsandtrails.ie and there is a public gallery in the forum area.
Hello! Yes, it was Aneira's first birthday yesterday :) Unfortunately for her, we were out all day visiting family, so she had a pretty boring old day.
Thanks Cheryl!! We think he is lovely too;o)) His kennel name is Clannrua Swift and he is the pup on the left in the Blog Post "Setters in the Wind" posted by me but a photo by Rita!!
thank you Cheryl for the comment on Neita. she is a little huggy bear - turning into a real devil in a second and chasing Zilou through the house, etc etc. but hey, isn't that what puppy life is about? ;-)
yes, it is Zilou I keep (yellow girl). after many sleepless nights i decided to keep her. was not thinking because she is ugly :-) but if and how i will be able to manage my life with three dogs. but 1. she IS beautiful and such a character, 2. also, it has been my dream for 14 years to have an own litter. so the only solution is to keep her. also, i don't plan to breed more (at least this is what i say at the moment), i was worrying all through the mating-pregnancy-birth-puppy stage-etc, lost 14 kilos, and started to look like a zombie. think i will stick to showing, field work and just loving them :-)
thanks Cheryl! as i am a photo maniac, you can be sure to see lots of pics of the girls! just got home from a show, Neita was best bitch puppy and then also beat the puppy boy and got the best puppy title :-) happy! but it was freezing cold and an outside show!!!!!!!!!
Hello Cheryl, thanks for your kind comments on Dora's 15th, 5 months on from her birthday and she is still going fine. I lost Steve a few weeks ago and miss him such a lot, he was a very special boy, he would have been 14 in December. All the rest of the team are just great! Lovely to see you got your puppy! I hope you have lots of fun with her. Rosie
Hello again Cheryl, thanks for your interest in Steve, I have a homebred son of his, Fairuby Gary, and a daughter from Pat Aldridge in NZ, I will shortly be importing a grand daughter from The Netherlands, Marlland Ruby, bred by Wilma Schellings. She is out of a bitch bred by Diana van de Valk, Heaven on Earth of the Red Empire, who was sired by Steve. Both kennels have websites and are members of ES.
I have uploaded a B/W head shot of Steve, taken when he was about 8, I need to go though photo's to scan others, will do this soon, I have also put up a natural shot of Gary. Rosie
