How long have you owned Irish Setters?
25 years
About Me:
first IS Sharla died at 15 years. second IS Cherie died Feb 2010 to cancer. Very sad. I was not going to get another IS but saw an add in the paper for pups and could not resist. We bought our Molly down from Queensland by plane. It is 1 year yesterday that she arrived and looked so cute in her crate at the airport. The staff were great and Molly travelled to our home some 45 kms from the airport without any problems. Called in at the vet on the way home to show the new pup off and together with the vet nurse named her Molly. She has become a huge part of our lives.

What a laugh...must have been thinking about each other at the same time as our messages were at the same time almost.  Hope you hear good reports on Molly...and rest up on your trip to Alice as for some reason I think when you first get there you will get no rest!  Hope that eye problem is now all cleared up ....might have to do wee bit of follow up to finish clearing it up but eye medicines have always worked quickly here for us.  Glad you had a great winery tour.
  • Sherry Miller

So no real relaxing even on the plane....hope the little ones will be tired enough with traveling to give you a wee bit of peace after you arrive in Alice and I hope your wait for a flight was not too long.  When things calm down let me know about your winery trip. Sounded like a lot of fun.
  • Sherry Miller

glad you had a good flight....enjoy your time with the grandkids !  Bedtime here so will check in on you tomorrow/
  • Sherry Miller

No news is usually good news!  Sounds like you are having fun with the girls....enjoy your time with them.  Let me know if you call on Molly but bet they would have contacted you if there were any issues.

We had a quick hit of snow/sleet yesterday...2 inches that is now melting and making the yard a muddy mess!!  Molly trying to not get into the mud but hard to avoid it as grass has not yet started to grow here. Will be warm here later in week so we are still on the weather yoyo here.  Spoil your granddaughters while you can. Hugs!

  • Sherry Miller

Glad you are back home though I bet you miss the grandkids!  nice to get a bit of rest but seems like if there is distance between us it just makes us miss them more!  Is Molly home? and if so how are her eyes?  did she charm everyone and behave like a proper Irish lady?

I worked this PM...Molly just enjoyed her day outside as we are unseasonably warm today...high of 82 degrees....now remember that only four days before that we had sleet and two inches of snow!  Crazy weather but typical of spring here. They did have the Hiberian Parade today...Irish clans and some bands and then the big corned beef dinner ...saw some of the parade on tv before I headed out to work.  Bars busy here with all the green beer.....don't have to be Irish to party here that is for sure.

We went out to dinner last night and then saw " The King's Speech" ...what a lot of history in that movie and acting was wonderful.  So that is our little bit of celebration here.

  • Sherry Miller

Hi Eunice...hope you caught your flight on time....and I bet they did miss their Mom!  As far as Molly's eyes....if they did not see infection I wonder if it was a pollen reaction...perhaps to the plants she decorated your patio with?  Just a thought!  How easy it is for them to get into something that can cause a reaction but hard for us to figure out what it might be they are reacting to!  Bet you can not wait to see her...and get some cuddles from her....spoil her rotten for a wee bit.  I know how bad I was when I got back from Austin last year....Alan had collected Molly day before but all she did was sleep the 24 hours til Angie and I got home....then it was a love fest!  Bet you will be glad to be home again and to settle into your regular routine.
  • Sherry Miller

AHhhh bet she looks cute with that ribbon.  Did she keep it in?  Our Molly does not like to wear things in her hair...or neck scarfs even....she will work the neck scarf around til she can carry it in her mouth.
  • Sherry Miller

Not a good welcome home for you....roof leaking?  hope insurance will take care of it for you.  Hate those storm messes!

No indication of any eye infection?"  I would sort of keep an eye on it to see if it happens again when she decides you need plants on your deck....then it might be a pollen reaction .  Smiled when I read the hair bow didn't last....our Molly takes them out and carries it in her mouth until I trade her a treat for it.  She loves to trade her stolen or forbidden items for those treats( a different type of dry dog food I use only for training treatsI

  • martina mckeag

Hi Eunice thank you for the invite and for the nice comments on

Shannon your photos of  Molly are all lovely what age is she ?

  • Sherry Miller

Just working a lot this week....then back to normal schedule next week.  Eunice you are having the worse luck lately at home....first the roof and now your hot water heater ( ours is in the basement here)  ....and I bet it did scare both of you big time!  Did it explode? How is the estimate for the ceiling repair going?  Sounds like you will almost end up with a new house if this keeps going on!

How are Molly's eyes?  any more replanting being done?  curious here if that was the cause.  My Molly is bouncing around playing with her Lil Squeak toy....she loves it...has had it since she first came home and still squeaks loud!  She has been playing hidey bone again since St Patrick's Day but Alan left back door open today while I was at work and she hid the bone outside and just now found it and ate the silly bone....so did not quite take a week this time.  She is fun to watch worry that bone ....keeps checking to be sure it is safe and then has to move it cause we saw where she put it. So will be picking up another one for her as I love to watch her play the game.  Has been warm here early part of this week but now dipping to below freezing again for a bit....hate that it may freeze some of the pretty spring flowers.  Early daffodils in bloom here and just look so pretty...as well as spring flowering trees....redbuds, smoke trees, Bradford pears in full bloom ...and the tulip trees.  Do you have any of those in Aussie?

  • Sherry Miller

Poor Molly....can't explain to her why her peace and quiet is all disrupted!  they get used to how things are supposed to be in their world and noisy changes upset them I fear.  Hope she will settle down and get used to some of the noise from next door soon so you don't have accidents inside.  I know our Molly got upset the day the guy was on the neighbors roof next door....she knew no one should be up there ....finally I went outside and she came out but kept watching the guy fix their roof.  She is so nosey....more so than my boys were.  Only thing that really spooks her when she is outside is when the helicopters come over to land at the hospital by us. They are not supposed to fly over our homes but sometimes things pile up over there and they come in this way...she runs to the door to get inside. Sometimes I wonder if she thinks it is a big bird coming to get her for chasing all the birds all the time...but it probably is the noise that hurts her ears.

I am sure your son is glad you all are coming again to watch the kids so they can get away for their anniversary.. hope Molly's eyes clear up for you....now makes me wonder if kennel put some eye medications in or if she is allergic to something in your yard. Your trip to Adelaine sounds interesting....how long will you be gone? and will you get to do some site seeing while you are there?

  • Sherry Miller

Eunice....they should have to fix it ...really !  Talk to owner of the house and take pictures of your damaged heater before you all do a thing.  Do you know how they damaged it?  I would be getting pretty upset over that also....first all the noise of construction and then they are not going to be responible for damage they do?  I don't think so.  Here they would have to replace or repair all damage they do...and should carry insurance for just that purpose.  I would be talking to law officials there if they don't,,,,but document with pictures and also would send them a letter ( keep copy) and see if they respond that way.

Our Molly would probably be trying to get in the plumbers way to see what he is doing.  She does bark when someone comes to the door but soon as they pet her she is their new best friend.  Nothing like trying to do something with an IS looking over your shoulder to be sure you are doing it right.

Trip sounds like it could be really fun if you have a little bit of free time to explore.  Afraid we have not planned any trips yet and not sure how far we will be going this year...hoping at least for a few long weekends down at the lake....place that just relaxes me 100 % ....though if we stay with his sister we won't get to take Molly.  She would be left alone a lot though as if we are not out on the lake we are running around Branson proper either to shop the outlet malls, or the antique shops.  We also try to do some of the country music shows when we are down there.

  • Sherry Miller

Molly would go to the kennel...doggie daycamp program...she loved it last year but it wore her out!  Would love to take her with us but it is not our house so I honor house rules always.  I would love to live down there I think....but would want to try renting a spot for winter to see if I can handle that time of year...have done spring, summer and fall but never been there during cold weather.

How much longer on that demolish and rebuild next door to you ?  hope not too long.

Molly has been loving our bit of mini spring here....outside romping most of the day and wonders of wonders she is finally lying down outside!  before she was too busy birding all the time to even think of lying down .  Guess that is maturity showing !  She loves it when it is cool and windy but sunny....her favorite time to be out.  You can just see her wind up when the weather is like that....almost an excitement you can feel.  Hope you had a good trip and drive with Molly. and ouch on that plumber bill!

  • Sherry Miller

    Eunice ,

Molly has had her home life disrupted by all the noise....and then add the kennel to it and it just keeps building.  I bet she will get used to most of the noise of the rebuilding next door ....some of the noisier things ...drills or saws that are screechy may hurt her ears as they are so much more senistive than ours are but she will adjust to most of it when it is ongoing.

We started out today here warm but windy but temperature took a really big dip here quickly about 3 pm....down to freezing again and hearing sloppy snow later this week.  Molly loves all this wind.....and her feathers are just blowing in the wind.  She just keeps running in and out...checks to see what we are doing and out she goes again.  So nosey she does not want to miss out on anything.  Got called into work today so only have tomorrow off this week,

  • Sherry Miller

There will be a lot of coming and going while they are building...new people in and out....can she see the house from the yard?  I found with my IS that when something new is going on that best thing I can do is to put a leash on them and go with them to see what is going on.  Helps to let them know it is not something bad or something you are worried about.  We had a lot of commotion out in front yard this past year...new sewer lateral, had to take down our two trees because of it, new water lines put in as it seems the water main is next to our driveway...so when it burst we had a river out in front.  Then they did major street repairs, dug out our lower driveway, and new sidewalks...lots of big machinery and men moving around and making noise all day.  So we let Molly investigate those big machines after the men left the first day and explore all the new or missing things in the front yard and it seemed to settle her down unless they came right by our front door....then she would bark to let us know they were there. Guys got to sort of know Molly as I would walk her while they were here.....because they woke us up early making all that noise!!

How are Molly's eyes tonight?  and did you get hot water heater fixed?  Hope nothing else happened today....sometimes I think it comes in threes....like the sewer lateral, our trees and that broken water main!  Hope that does not happen again anytime soon...they replaced only the one side and all water lines are due to be replaced at some point so they will tear it all up again on our front lawn and driveway...can not count how many times they have replaced the lower two slabs of our driveway after we drove on the gravel for three months til the ground settled.

  • Sherry Miller

My Molly will sometimes snore lightly if she is asleep in her chair with her head over the arm....I swear she does everything more daintly than my boys did !  She will give soft muffled almost a puppy bark while asleep occasionally and usually when she does her feet are making a running motion....so I figure she is dreaming about chasing her friend the squirrel!  All my IS have done that . Molly will sort of guard what she can see out the front window here....but if it is the neighbors she does not bark at their cars or them...just someone who is not usually in the neighborhood.  Glad she does not bark at the mailman, trashman or the Fed Ex truck when it comes to deliver things to people.  Hope Molly's eyes clear up for you soon,

Is Neil excited to be seeing the grandkids?  are they out of school while you are there? and are you planning some exploring adventures with them?  I know you will miss Molly...but it's good to share the grandkids together so you build those memories for all of you.  Hope it will not be so hot while you are in Alice.

  • Sherry Miller

Hotels can sure add up fast so lucky you to have a place to stay.  Green desert?  vegatation ? trees or cactus?  is the sand green?  The red rocks....are they clay? think you are figuring out I can be as nosey as my Molly is.  Sounds like they have a little bit of everything there. Are the grandchildren off school?  Do they have a long summer vacation?  Here they start school around middle of August , have two days off in November for our Thanksgiving, a week to ten days at Christmas, a week of spring break in March , the national holidays off , and a few other days during that time for school teachers meetings and finish up around end of May. Summer vacation is June and July and first part of August for them.

Molly is asleep in the chair behind me as I type this..she had another really busy day...carried about half her babies outside ...hid a few in the yard but gathered I think most of them up to bring them back inside right at dusk.  Funny to watch her bring them in.  If she forgot any they may come back in when she goes out for the last time tonight. Not sure if she looks for them in the dark or just comes across them while making her rounds out there.  My boys would have never gathered their toys up to bring back inside...now if she would put them in her toy box instead of putting a few in each room.  Reminds me of when my girls were small and scattered their toys around the house but at least there are no Barbie highheels for me to step on...those things hurt like the devil...even worse than Legos !

  • Sherry Miller

Take some pictures of the scenery when your in Alice...sounds like a really interesting place to visit...and so much contrast.
  • Sherry Miller

still up and having a diet pepsi here....though coffee sounds good!
  • Sherry Miller

Pictures are awesome!  Thankyou. Makes me want to see them for real as they look so huge!  I also had to relook at Molly's sunnyside up photo as it makes me laugh....put a note up on pictures for you.  Amazing and overwhelming is the feeling I got from looking at that first one. Do you walk thru the pass?
  • Sherry Miller

Missouri has Elephant Rocks State Park which are huge pink granite boulders....and they have one area called Fat Man's Pass...and you better not be too big or you won't get thru it! Boulders are more rounded and look like big fat elephants....you can climb up on them but have to watch for snakes and they sometimes can be slippery.  I used to walk Pebbles there when I was at my Dad's .....there is a path around it and a couple of quarries from where they took pink granite out.  Will have to take my camera next time we are in that area...as all my pictures of it are on photo's only (before I had a digital camera)   In the Ozarks we also have the Royal Gorge which is rocks all tumbled down a cliff area ....really pretty in fall when you have leaves changing colors here.  I know other parts of US have similar scenic and famous rock formations but just fun to see what you all have.

Saw that this AM....remember National Velvet?  I wanted a horse so badly after seeing that movie as a girl.  Have to remember I grew up in the city...and my parents did not get the cabin on the lake til I was a teenager...and no area there for horses either but did not stop me from begging....and that is why we probably got our first dog.  Had parakeets and my sister had a fish aquarium but not the same as a cuddly dog you can take for a walk.  Sent you an email back...will have to figure out how to send you some pictures from Lake Tablerock in Mo tomorrow....or ask Angie next week to help me as she is one busy girl this week.
  • Sherry Miller

Will email some lake photos to you as soon as I figure out how to do it!
  • Sherry Miller

We first moved to an older suburb of St Louis...Kirkwood....then out to Fenton in 78...when we moved here there was a farm next to our subdivsion....and the new school built in 89 had a field of cows next to it and a field of horses across the street from it ...but sadly those are gone now and replaced by subdivsions. The golf course our subdivsion butted up to is now a hospital...that was only two years ago so we have watched the area grow up....some good but I miss hearing the rooster crow from the farm that was by us.  Progress can be good....I don't have to go far to get anything I need anymore as it is all right down the road but I do miss our little town feel we used to have, We are lucky as we are not far from the Meramac River ( not close enough to ever flood though) and have quite a few parks by us.  We were lucky when we first moved here to meet some of the  'oldies who grew up here and to hear their stories of how it used to be.  Guess to the young ones my stories of farms right by us would be the old days to them,,,,,uhoh! am I getting old?

Funny you mentioned chickens as some of the really affluent areas of the county now have allowed residents to have a few fancy chickens as pets so they can go green with having their own eggs.

  • Sherry Miller

Same thing here with the city.  Molly is just giving you the kisses we can not get from my Molly.....you got them all!  Instead of kisses she rubs her neck and side of her face over your face and neck....so you have the kissing Molly and I have the necking Molly,

Thankyou for comment on Molly's face...don't let her fool you though she can be the Diva,....though a sweet one .  I do think our girls look a lot alike.  Next time you see the vet I am curious to know how much your Molly weighs.  We go next month for heartworm blood test and to check to be sure no worms so will get her weight then,  Don't want her to gain anymore here as she looks just perfect to me,  Alan will not be going to the vet with me as she acts up when he goes!  Took three people holding her last spring to get the blood work when he was with us so in July when she got all her injections I took her and only took me to hold her.....she was also that way first time I took her so vet and I have kicked Alan out!

We have elections the first Tuesday in April...they are always on Tuesdays here, Polls open at 5 am and close at 7 pm....this time our polling place is furthur away as church we usually vote at is under construction.  This is not a major election so voter turnout will be light....I need to study issues though so I can at least decide what I want to vote yes or no on!  I better head to bed or will not get up in AM,,,hoping they do not call me at 7:30 Am like they did today to come in....want at least one day off....did laundry when I got home today and then Alan and I went out to dinner,  Think he feels bad that I am working so much so is not expecting me to cook much....though I think Molly likes me to cook incase I drop something.  She had an uncooked spaghetti noodle last week and acted like it was the best thing she ever had....kept searching to make sure I did not drop any more.  Night and ty for pics

    Hi Eunice,

I saw that you were online! I won't be on for long I have to cook dinner. Molly is going through the 'leggy' stage by the look of her latest photos. The cat seems very happy though. What a great pair. Annabelle just finished her first season. I will be maitng her on her second season as she is quite a tall girl...like her sister I think.

    Take care,

    Talk soon

Hi...just looked online....glad you had a good Dr's report...and that Molly did fine while you were gone.  I worked this AM and then had errands to run...oil change for car and grocery store.   Cheated and had them bake the fish for me !  Work tomorrow night which I am dreading as they are saying more rain changing to sleet and snow in late afternoon ending up in about 3 inches of snow.  Hate driving in sleet and snow!  We had about an inch of snow this AM on the grass...and drove to work first in snow,,,changed to rain and sleet right at end of my trip in.  Silly winter still here but first day of spring was last Sunday.  Molly even is fed up with snow...she loves those windy spring like days...can hardly get her to stay inside except her trips inside to be sure what we are doing.  Molly is running around with Alan and Angie's socks she stole from downstairs...wants us to chase her to get them...in a wee bit she will hide them if I have the game figured out right...and bring them out again tomorrow.  She is bored after spending most of today inside....upended her toybox to get to her stick of dynamite she has not played with since last fall....wish she would pick up her own toys!
  • Sherry Miller

Life is a fun game to Molly here....and she makes almost everything into a game....it helps that she almost always gets a good reaction from one of us I think....her chase me game is funny as she will roo roo at you with her mouth full of the stolen socks or tea towel ...comes out all funny which always makes me laugh.  Perhaps because we went over a year without a dog here ...and fact he said NO MORE DOGs ...we all are just enjoying Molly so much.  I know how lucky we are to have her ...and also how lucky we did not have any major training problems with her.  I need to get battery for my camera so I can download some pictures .  Keep forgetting it!  What are you putting on Ebay?
  • Sherry Miller

I drive about 20 minutes to work...avoid the main highways and take the back roads to avoid traffic jams .
  • Sherry Miller

You are smarter than I am as I have no idea how EBAY works ....let me know so I can look at the china....I love old things!!  Though I have plenty here I still love to look. :)

Molly now all snuggled up for the night it seems....and socks hidden under my computer chair.  I will trade you our sloppy snow and sleet and near freezing weather for that wind and rain.  Does your Molly go out willingly in the rain?

  • Sherry Miller

Not something you want to pass on to your son?  I have a set for Angie that was my mother inlaws....just an everyday china set but sooo many memories for even Angie as it was what she used in spring starting on Easter and going thru summer.  I just have to look at that china and it feels like Easter to me!

My Molly is all snuggled up here behind me....she follows me from room to room til I finally go to bed....will nag me in a wee bit to go to bed if I do not go on my own,

  • Alison Ashley-Turner

well... I'm now eating my words... my youngster, Rufus, loves Royal Canin sensible and or RC Active... he keeps his weight too.  It is expensive but it does have alot of oils in it which keeps the coat extremely glossy and they don't need as much as some foods:-)  He will eat most things but daren't change now....  my older dog is on a very cheap working dog food and he has thrived on that... it is whatever suits each one reall.  my sprnger is on arden grange light as he is prone to gaining weight.... It would be lovely to feed all one food but they all thrive on different stuff:-)
  • Sherry Miller

Just posted what our weather was here yesterday and what I did after coming home from work last night.....it is melting today but more expected Tuesday night into Wednesday AM!!!  I will gladly take your rain.

Glad Molly made such a good friend last night....can just see that head tucked under that arm.  They sure make sure you don't forget them.

  • Sherry Miller

Pass that Country Roses china to your daughter inlaw!  given dishes are usually much treasured dishes.
  • Sherry Miller

Glad you are going to save that for your son and daughter inlaw and perhaps one day one of your granddaughters will use it knowing it came from their Great Grandma....how special that can be!

I posted some new pictures of Molly today.....and glad you are taking Molly to the vet for her eye.....been long enough it must be more than allergy.  Hope they soon have her right so you will not worry while gone.  Will email you in a second.

  • Sherry Miller

How are Molly's eyes today?  Hope they are soon cleared up ...know you are busy getting ready for trip but wanted to thankyou for comments about pictures ( took those for you as you don't get snow!) ...plus it was a nice wet snow so perfect for snowballs, and not really too deep , not too cold and gone next afternoon...just hard to track Molly in the dark while getting pictures).
  • Sherry Miller

Eunice that was not really a big snow for us....over 5 inches I consider a big snow...and it did not even last a whole 24 hours! All gone now but two snowball size patches in our front yard but perhaps more tomorrow pm.  We do not get dark at 4 pm here this time of year.  We are staying light right now til about 5:30 pm.....and will keep adding time to that until it is 8 pm before we get dark.  When it was snowing the other day our visibility was bad for driving, gray clouds so it did get dark faster .  We are on Daylight Savings Time here ,

Did you make an appointment for Molly to see the vet or are you doing it when you take her to drop her off for the kennel?  Our Molly enjoyed quite a bit of time outside today as it is above freezing ...tomorrow if it rains she won't stay out as long until it starts snowing....she likes it when it comes down.  Think of being inside one of those snow ornaments(globes) that you shake and all the snow flies....that is what our snow Saturday was like.  :) just a lot colder!

  • Sherry Miller

This year we have had more snow than normal....and often we have no snow for Christmas....though this year we did but I was home sick while everyone else was having the family Christmas's.:(  Snow like Saturdays are not bad as mostly streets were not slick due to ground being so warm....it is when the streets freeze I hate.
  • Howard Glansfield

    Hello Eunice.

I think Lois means peace and quiet by her P&Q.Don't get much of that travelling with a young setter!

    Howard

  • Sherry Miller

Eunice we do get pretty hot and humid here in summer....sort of run the gamut here with weather.....saying is if you don't like the weather now wait about half an hour and it will change!
  • Sherry Miller

Way to go Molly!  How were her eyes today?  Worked this am and work tomorrow pm than off for a bit.....hope you have a great trip and get the chance to share some new site seeing memories with the granddaughters.
  • Sherry Miller

Sounds like Molly is liking going to the kennel....bet she has fun there and chance to be around other dogs always adds interest for them.  I do hope you get some nice pictures but even more than that is that you both have a wonderful relaxing trip.....sometimes we forget how peaceful and wonderful feeling just relaxing can be!  Hope you have nice , sunny  weather that is not too hot.

We started day today here with dusting of snow on lawns but by nine am that was all gone....sort of overcast but by noon sun was out.....just spring giving up glimpses of what is to come but teasing us with a wee bit of winter still in picture.  April we usually get quite a bit of rain....saying is : April showers bring May's flowers:"  so will see what comes .  Have a great trip and spoil those little ones just a tiny bit!

  • Sherry Miller

I bet the girls will love their puppy.  How old is he ? and what did they name him?  Such fun to see little ones play with a puppy....and how sweet puppies are no matter what type.  Niece here just got a new puppy....waiting to hear now if she needs a crate for him....sort of a Heinz 57 but so cute.  I think he will end up being an Oliver....or Ollie for short.
  • Sherry Miller

That sounds like a long trip but I bet Molly will love having Shasa to play with!  Such a cutie.  Looks like perhaps it may not be very big when full grown.....but don't let that deceive you as my Dad's little Tiger (Jack Russel terrier mix and small) ruled the roost over all my male setters!  I just found that usually my Irish were mellow and content not to rock the boat here even if the other dog took over their house.....just a wow~ I have company to play with !
  • Sherry Miller

    Eunice,

Sounds like Shasa is making you really appreciate your Molly.....how quickly we forget some of the puppy mischiefs!  but I also found my puppies that were raised with my girls tended to be more mischeivous....always thought it was due to competition for attention .  Did you find that with your dogs?  Easier to train them when no small children in the home as our attention is not so easily diverted away from them when we are trying to correct or teach a behavior.

Still amazed about that picture of camels.....wonder if they were always a part of the animal life in Austrailia or if they were imported ?  Hope all is going well and those grandchildren have been spoiled quite a bit by you both~

  • Sherry Miller

I bet Molly seems huge after being around that little bitty puppy!  and I am not surprised she missed you .....hope you enjoy some cooler weather so you can enjoy more outside time with her....and that construction sounds are not so bad from next door for you.

Interesting about where those camels came from and how they are now wild....wonder if they are like our wild mustang herds here that sometimes have to be thinned due to overbreeding in the wild.  Balance of nature sometimes can seem so cruel.

Thankyou for the birthday wishes....beautiful day.....a week after that last snow and we ate outside at our favorite tea house on the patio!

  • Sherry Miller

Hi Eunice...hope you are starting to enjoy some cooler weather and that Molly is not too bothered by the construction next door to you.  We are roller coasting again here this coming weekend with humid hot summer like weather laced with storms again.....I work all weekend so guess at least it gets me out of house and moving instead of curled up with a book.  Molly out right now trying to figure how to get the two Labs next door to do what she wants.....break down the fence so they all can romp thru the two yards.  Afraid she is terribly spoiled here by Alan....so she thinks if she cries everyone will jump to do her wishes!  Though so far the girls next door have removed that temporary fence twice so perhaps she has it figured out how to make them do as she wants....and they want!  All get along very well so it is nice they can play together.

Sort of debating whether to go back with a 6 foot wooden fence or try the new recycled plastic....and if we want that whole side in six foot or not...plus he needs ground to dry out to set posts it seems....so for now it is temporary fence which the girls are enjoying being able to see each other.  Two dogs behind us do not get along with the two Labs next to us so not an option to not put at least a wooden one back....too much barking!  Molly can not figure out why they bark and growl at each other as she plays with all of them.  We do laugh as she lies right by the temporary fence and stares into their window where her buddy is lying on her dog bed....staring contests and whimpers to be together.  Glad they get along though.

Have you heard from the insurance company on your water heater?  or better yet the guy who messed it up?  Glad your weather is wee bit cooler.

Ticks are just starting here....and will multiply from now til frost in October.....we have different types and do have Lymes Disease, Rocky Mountain Fever etc to worry about.  I try to watch where I take Molly to avoid ticks and fleas as much as I can.....kennel I do use Advantix whenever she is there or if it gets really bad around here I will use it.  Hate using it though !  have been trying to decide on the one I put information about on the Forum. Lot of oils involved but all of them are full of combination of things so just wondering if anyone had tried it.  I am afraid that unless we are out walking where ticks are bad I just tend to check Molly really well and remove them by hand here myself.  Hate ticks and hate fleas here....still trying to figure out what their purpose in life is besides food for someone else futher up the food chain!

Eunice this Natural Defense is touted in our newspapers by a vet who has an advice column in them....looked it up online but will take it to my vet before I go futhur with trying it.  Need to reread forum as I believe Cornelia mentioned eucaliptous (spelling) oil she puts on Joy....want to check out as might be against fleas.

We will get fence sorted out soon...just have to decide what we want to go back with.  In meantime Molly is loving being able to see and to greet (kiss) her friends over the fence!   Waiting for Tristan( older Lab) to barrel back underneath it so the three of them can have their wild romps again....they loved it....I would wake up to a black Lab sitting at my backdoor waiting for Molly.....and Molly in return would go to fetch them at their backdoor when she was ready to play....just like a bunch of kids!
