About Me:
We are Finnish-Chinese couple. We got our 1st "baby" when living in Estonia in 2004. We did totally fall in love with Irish Setters. Now we have lived in Beijing, China since 2005. Irish Setters are not very common here. We were worried, how to be able to make even one set of puppies (notice, we are not professional breeders, just IS lovers). Our story is quite sad about the male (Tom). We found him last year 2007 around July. He has been imported to China from Holland by some rich people. They get tired of their toy and gave him "to be take care of" by Chinese pig farmers. You can believe, I had to hold my tears when see him 1st time. Same day we took dog out from there, took him to doctor and let him stay in quarantee for 2 weeks. Then our friend told us (he showed us this dog) that we can not keep him, but owner wants him to keep it. I was so sad and upset. I had fell in love with this boy already. He was in really bad shape. Weigh around 20 kg, fur totally dirty, viruses, bacterias... you name it. But even thou, I just fell in love. I wanted to give him a future. Our friend was partner in dogs "farm". That how we call those in China. Tom was taken there amongs other 40 dogs. After they noticed, they can't make him show dog, they gave Tom to some factory, where he was just running free in a yard for couple of months, eating just junk what he was able to find. 2 weeks ago my wife got phone call from our friend. He was asking if we still would like to have Tom (my wife is breagnent 5 months and we do have 1 small abonded dog already... don't ask breed from me). We were talking for while and now... please help! we have beautiful Irish Setter beauty and we have beast (even he is quite good mannered). How can we still train 2,5 years old male. He have had basic training and seems like he is recalling back old manners. I will not tell everything now, but hope to get any owners professional opinions. Also those of you who has been breeding, do you thing we can use Tom for purpose. Notice, currently he is only male Irish Setter we know in Beijing... and there is not too many Irish Setters at all. We know totally 4 including our 2 dogs. Of cause it's big city.

By the way. Funny web-address as my wife name is Ning.

Wish (little bit late) but Happy Rat's Year for all of you.

Hi Matti and Ning, hope all is well with you. We hear such terrible news about the earthquake. Good luck with your new baby and puppies. I am sure you will manage just fine with them. Hope you can find good families for them. Tom does look like a pure-bred Irish Setter. Have your vet check if he has a microchip. Maybe you can find his pedigree in Holland with the help of the microchip number.
