Mi Novia's first points

What a exciting day I had last Sunday, August 25th, in California, USA. My home bred bitch, Western Sun's Mi Novia, Novia to her friends, won her first two points from the Bred By Exhibitor Class. I'm hoping to put all her points on her from the BBE class which is known to be the toughiest class to win from.

I also showed her Momma, Angel at the same show, but in the Open Class. Angel has been sitting at home for the last two years and is just now coming out. What a surprise…

Smiling Setters - a happy topic

My older setter Maeve (she's just 22 months) smiles. I've posted a photograph but I didn't get the full effect because she put her head down, so it looks a bit like a snarl on the picture, but she bares all her teeth, pulls her lips back, goes all coy, and smiles when she meets us at the gate, if we've been out. The smile is followed by an enthusiastic welcome, so its seems a bit ungrateful to fiddle about with a camera while she's doing it. I wouldn't say its pretty, but its really… Continue

17-18/8/2007 - Fletcher's week end !

A wonderful week-end of success for our junior Fletcher of McBirdy.

On Satursday, at show of Mechelen (B), he obtained 1 Exc, then Best Junior Irish Setter, and later, Best Junior in show !

The day after, on the Field Trial held by the Belgian Gordon Club, Fletcher obtained the C.Q.N (Certificat de Qualités Naturelles).

A near 15 months, Fletcher is now qualified to be entered in working class in shows.

Debrecen double CACIB 25-26 August (Hungary)

We traveled into the Eastern part of Hungary to spend some days at a friend and also participate in 2 international shows. Danka did great the first day, she won the champion class and went on to be res.CACIB in the final competition. Day 2 was less successful, she was "only" second in champion class. Attached a photo of her and the class winning bitch. I will upload more pictures into…

Field Trial SCAV 25.08.07 Corcelles/CH

No luck this time for my dog Glen, the only Irish Setter entered at this summer trial held mainly in sugar beet. The pheasants refused to play the game and went away and hid;-))

Of 12 dogs entered in 'Solo' only one Pointer was placed. Disappointing for us, but hopefully better luck next time!…

Hunting season is behind the corner

The first training session is behind. Not too much willow grouse, only a few broods were found. And the honored dog was our hunter number 1. Woitto(Winner in english). The broods are still hiding in wet swamps. The high mountain area is full of lemmings, little hamsterlike creatures. Lots of food for owls and hawks. Hopefully those will leave willow grouses in peace.…
