Great shots are worth squillions, aren't they! Often so difficult to get everything just right, although probably people are finding photo-shop very useful!
Dee, you have some lovely photos on your site - a pleasure to view.

Dee...so far I am happy to do without grandchildren...and as my daughter put it (as a joke): Im never going to have any children, I want all the money for myself!
I can just see how I would be called upon to babysit...in all the free time I dont actually have. Seems that there are never enough hours to get everything done even without grandchildren.

Hard work with visitors...all the housecleaning needed. I suppose if I just keept things tidy ALL the time, it would not make it such a task! And yes I have heard that about being retired...certainly not MORE time (as we all tend to hope for) but rather less.
How that works out, I dont know, but everybody says the same so there must be some truth to it.
Have a great time with your friend, Dee! With six setters...is she on this site as well?
If not, she certainly should be. :-)

Cleaning all done?
As for filling time-gaps with dogs...Im already doing just that! Well and with cats, horses and chickens...plus work. So it will be interesting to see what I can find to fill the work-gap (if I ever give it up). I somehow have the feeling I will be dropping dead at my desk...:-)

What I do miss are my sheep in lambing-season. Not any other time! But the lambs in spring were great!
Now its chickens hatching instead (have six that are one week old). But they are fenced in due to foxes...I have had the same as you. But then a few years ago a ferret got in and did not leave a single one alive.
At least the fox took the hens and then ate them...but this...total waste. So I had to do without chickens for a couple of years.
And yes, I have had rabbits as well :-)
Those were the days when I had no dandylions ANYWHERE in my garden! Nothing quite as pretty as small rabbits.
And yes, I recognise the cleaning-problem! We do seem to have a lot in comon Dee!

Hi Dee, thank you for your nice comment! Indeed I was very proud of the puppies. For me it was a very succesful combination especially they are also having such funny and sweet characters.
But life at your place is looking wonderful, it's always my dream to visit Scotland and if possible with the dogs to have some nice walks.

Hello there Dee!
Working hard here and finally spring seems to have arrived! I had a few Welsomer hens (cant go back to my page to check out the spelling) as well! I had seen those eggs at the three-county-show and just felt I had to have some. Unfortunatly mine never layed quite as dark eggs as the ones at the show...and then some fox got the hens. I have had all sorts of breeds and am now on a happy mix.
Makes life so much more interesting (and easier to tell the hens appart). :-)
As for sheep, I started with Oxfordshire downs and (to me) they were HUGE. Or at least too big for me to handle when it came to shearing. So I changed to an old swedish breed (grey with black faces) and VERY easy lambings and normally just two lambs. So they were great...untill you had to take them to the slaughter-house.
Thats the worst part I feel, and that is what made me give it all up. Plus the fact that shearing twice a year was fun for the first year or so...it soon wore off once the admount of sheep became more. I could never handle that now!
Hope you had a great time with your friend visiting!

Hello there, Dee. I have been off line due to a glitch in the system, which prevented me from accessing anything to do with the site.
Most frustrating. I could not even be acknowledged by my own page!
Back on board now, though.
Any news?

Hi Dee, yes, the photo's are from the last litter. Banthi was the only girl and Chili was the unmarked big one. I'm from the Netherlands, living in The Hague so also next to the beach. My dogs are always getting crazy on the beach, running after the little birds and going so far in the sea that I'm sometimes afraid they will end up in England. But I love to walk in the dunes, specially now when everything is getting green and smelling so nice. I walk two times a day with my dogs and I don't know who from us is enjoying it the most...

Hello Dee,
Thank you for your nice comment on my photos and for inviting me to be your friend:)
Sorry that it took me a while to comment back but I was very busy lately.
I agree with you completely that you have to have a little "Irish" in you to really love and commune with those beautiful and incredible wise creatures:)
Best regards to you and your girls

Dee!
Yes! I have been in to the spinning wool as well! But no shawls...just pullovers and plenty of them! Purest lambswool. I knitted tons of them for my husband and son, but gave it up when they (mainly my son) moaned about not wanting any more becourse they smelled of sheep :-)
Well and there are mittens and stuff as well, still laying about. Plus my very first thick pullover.
But with all this "pure and untreated" wool, I ended up getting moths in them.
I have neither the time nor the desire to do any more spinning. It was fun while I was in to that! Did quite a bit of fleece-making (perhaps thats not what its called) its when you rub sheepswool with soapy water. Loads of socks/slippers made like that.
As for hens (no I definatly dont want to give them up) I just bought a new cockeral yesterday, the old one was just laying there dead in the run day before.
Fantastic summer weather here and all long walks are now taken wearing shorts and a small T-shirt.
I love spring and summer!
Great to have you back on this site!
