Growing new grass

Hello all,

I would like to put some grass seed down in my back garden. I've checked the back of several packets and there's no animal health warning but my fiance is convinced he's heard that it can be dangerous for dogs to eat the type with ryegrass.  Can anyone verify this as I don't want to poison Ollie unknowingly?  Or is my fiance having a dippy moment?!
