Perth Royal Show 2014

Another year, another Royal Show . . . and sadly another one with only one Irish entered. At least we were there to share this wonderful breed with the public.

After sleeping through most of last year's show and completely destroying the Irish reputation for being energetic and sociable, Merlin was much better this year. He spent most of the day getting pats from people of all ages and getting his photo taken. There was just one brief nap during mid afternoon, which everyone agreed…

Dylan is coming!!!

I'm getting very excited about picking up my new puppy!  I've been waiting for him since my younger boy passed away in May.  I can't tell you how my heart skipped a beat when my friend/breeder Pat Jesson of Fleetwood Farms Irish Setters called me on September 19th (I even remember the exact day!) and gave me the jubilant news that her girl was indeed pregnant! Afer a few weeks more of waiting, Pat sent me the best email of my life! "Here he is!!!!"  My beautiful new baby, one hour old.   I…

Poem dedicated to our Setters at Rainbow's End.

A while ago my only girl Bonnie passed away. Whilst sitting by her grave, these words came to me, as I was just overwhelmed by the loss of her but the joy that I had from her life, and how she had changed my heart, for the better, and hopefully made me a better person!

A Change of Heart

I asked of God, ‘Will I see her…

We are very delighted to share the above photo taken last weekend on the annual animal blessing in Gorbio village. Each animal were called by it's name and blessed by the…

Getting ready to get Ellis OFA on her hips. Can anyone tell me what their Doctor charged to do this? I know the OFA charge is separate, I am curious about the vet bill I have been quoted. Thanks to anyone that can help me.

What 'Naughty and Nice' things have you learnt from Setters ?

Having lost our precious Lynwood Poetry in Motion 3 weeks ago I got to thinking what she had taught me in her nearly 15 years of life. Could members add to this list ? If you can, I would love to add your thoughts to a Setter Poem my daughter is writing for me. So far, my thoughts are these: Bonnie taught me that cuddles are precious, day or night, cuddle your loved ones; that Gym membership is not necessary with a Setter; that you should resist growing up, forever, it is more fun that way ;… Continue
