Hi Sue,

I feed our dogs on the BARF diet. All raw meat, veg, yogurt, eggs, bones etc. The breeder of my IS feeds all her dogs this way and I've kept Darcey on that diet and changed our other dog onto it too. We get our IRWS on Saturday and we'll gradually transfer her onto the same diet.

It's great as you can control exactly what your dog is eating, it's also good for gluten intolerant dogs.

Hope that is of some help!

After having a bloater in the past, all my dogs are now BARF fed.  However, one of my dogs, whose mum died of bloat 4 years ago has had gastro intestinal problems, and one thing I have learned is that she has a malabsorption problem.  I have to be really careful with the quality of raw meat she has, otherwise she passes through undigested food and fats. With the food she has now, everything comes through fine and she has far less gurling first thing in the morning.  However, I think she can well do with some digestive enzymes (as could the others).  Mercola Healthy Pets (www.mercola.com) have just announced that they are selling some enzymes specifically formulated for dogs guts, so I am going to order some from there initially. In the UK,  Evolution Organics www.evolutionorganics.co.uk are going to stock them, but not until October, as evidently I just missed the large order they had already placed with Mercola. They should have them in stock October though, I will email them to remind them.

Hi Sue

Rosco our IS suffers with Chronic Bloat and bloats most days sometimes twice a day....but mostly in the evening. We've had him to a few different vets and now we are trying the homeopathic route and raw diet again. I'd suggest taking your dog off any dried food and starting the raw. We still haven't been able to get the bloating problem under control.

I hope Summer gets her problem sorted, I wouldn't wish what we are going through on anyone

Rita

I see that you and Sue have found each other on ES I think it helps to have some support. Hope both dogs are foing forward I know how very frightening the whole bloat process is and how helpless it makes you feel
