To summarize – my puppy knows several commands.
She does very well “SIT”, “SIT STAY”, “DOWN” and “DOWN STAY”.
She knows her name already of course and comes when called.
She knows command “OFF”, but always listens. I give this command when she is on furniture where she is not allowed and if she tying to get something from kitchen counters.
Yesterday on a class we attending once a week we learned command “LEAVE IT”. My Amber was the more stubborn puppy. It took me to give her command just 16 times in row before she listen to me. My son was counting a laughing behind our backs. We need really work on this command – I think that one is very critical. With a dog we had before Amber I had an encounter with her hunting a skunk in woods. I almost lost my voice yelling all different commands I knew – “come”, “off”, “leave it”, and even “I’ll kill you” and “you not getting in my car”. Nothing helped. Now when I think about it seems funny, but not back there. So I would love to master this command.
Also we learned recently “FETCH” and tow words “BALL” and “JERRY” (it’s a name of her stuffed bear). Also she is not bad with a “DROPP” command when she wants to.
But still pulling on a leash as crazy. But I understand – we have probably night animals in a backyard and she smells them in the morning.
Also we are learning toilet commands. We give two – “GO PEE” and “GO PATY”. She is getting treats when she does it in her designated spot. I think – that might work for future very well.
The first priorities to keep her from jumping on people. And I know how to do it, but need family members to help with it. My daughter just turning 7 this month and she is very upset when Amber jumps all over her and scratches her sometimes pretty bad.
Very active dog we have.
