Still with a too small box and a target - and I'm sorry: Quite bad body language on my behalf - what a patient dog I have :-))

Patient dog?? you tell us, but a really beautiful Joy I can tell you!!!! So you are suppose to tell your dog to go "inside" this delimited area and made her stay? Will have to seriously check obedience class for adult dogs, seems interesting!!

Thanks, Chantal, for the compliment on Joy's beauty - I will tell her :-)). On beginners level the dog just has to go inside the box in a straight line and show some tempo. In obedience 1 the dog has to lay down but only after you tell him. The limited area should be 3x3m and the distance between you and the square 15m. It is quite fun and good brain work and really not that easy to stop your dog at the right moment - hence the target.

impressive.. never checked the obedience training, but it looks as great fun, i definitely need to check more:)

at some point we teached Oberon "over" (and "under") with the idea that it was useful to have him jumping at a command in some situations (ex getting down from escalators in the tube- at moment he's ok on getting ON the escalator, but for getting down I am afraid is dangerous for the fingers so I carry him.. but is 30kg;), etc..

Unfortunately the way we did is not very useful: he jumps wonderfully at "over " but only if there is something physical  to get over of (a fence, a row of bushes, etc..).. so, people is making joks and say that unless we carry an inflatable fence and blow it when we need to get down of the escalator, we'll never have oberon jumping out.. ;)

we now need to find another command and teach him to jump even if there is nothing;)
