It is not for nothing that "accidentally" our beautiful heads are just at the level of the table .....  everything has a purpose in life!  :-)

That explains it. I also sheds some light on the long necks capable of craning around the edge of the table from neath thereby greatly facilitating a surprise raid even as those eyes say "who me? how could you think that?"
