what sort of collar does your dog wear? which purpose has it?

The black collar is for our invisible fence system.  It's designed for sporting dogs, so it is similar to the e-collar he wears when hunting.

Thanks for your honesty, I of course think they are horrible and would never have my Dogs wear one...

The invisible fence is for his safety, we live close to a very busy road, and it would be impractical to put a wooden fence around our large property.  He has been trained, so that it is set only to vibrate, not use "shock."  It is simply an alert to his boundary, when the collar vibrates, he turns back to the center of the yard.  We've never used an e-collar for training purposes, he's been trained solely using positive reinforcement methods, my husband has him wear it to help him track him when he cannot see him in the tall grasses.
