About Me:
Hi,I am JO I am 35 and live in New Zealand with my husband and 2 children.I work full time as a Corrections Officer and cherish any free time I am able to spend with my family and our dogs. I first fell in love with the Irish Setter when I visited Crufts in 1993. We emigrated to New Zealand in 2005 bringing NZ CH Silmanhurst Adolphus with us. Kerry followed 2 years later from the Amhurst kennels in Australia, Tara 1 year later from the Solasdas kennels in Melbourne and Nuela from the Marindallas Kennels here in NZ . In 2009 I was lucky enough to obtain Eamonn from Camilla Ostman, Kennel Copper in Sweden. I could not imagine life without one now and that is why my home will never be without the joy and fun of an Irish Setter. Also very much part of the family is the Gordon Setter Fleur from the Triseter kennels in Melbourne. I sparingly show my dogs around children and work committments. I have made some wonderful friends through showing both within NZ and abroad.I love returning to the UK to attend shows and observe some truly stunning Irish Setters.

GOODNIGHT MY PRECIOUS GIRL (NZ CH SOLASDAS COPPER RUSE) 17.12.2007 - 04.08.2012

Posted on September 25, 2012 at 5:53pm 35 Comments

It is with a broken heart that I write this blog. Our beautiful girl, Tara, was tragically taken from us on 4 August 2012 in a tragic accident. Not only was Tara a wonderful show dog but she was also the perfect advocate for the breed, happy go lucky, a superb nature and adored everyone and everything in life especially children. Tara thought the world was a safe and wonderful place and unfortunately her trustful nature and curiosity led her to being taken from us far before her…

GOODNIGHT SWEET SAFFRON (28.05.2012 - 23/07/2012 )

Posted on July 23, 2012 at 10:30am 42 Comments

It is with a broken heart that I write this blog. Having welcomed 9 beautiful babies into the world on 28 May 2012 from Eamonn and Nuela, the fun and worry of rearing them and then the painful selection of suitable homes for them. Our beautiful Miss Pink went to what I thought would be a caring, responsible and secure home. Her potential owners asked all the right questions and convinced us they would be a good home for one of our cherished Irish babies. Sadly, yesterday we were informed…

Hi Joanne,
By accident I took your message away from my page. I broke my wrist and have the flu at the moment, that might be my stupidity. How do I send you the pedigree ? I tried, but am not shure if you received it. By the way, thanks for the nice comment on Duke. Your dogs are lovely too. gr. Ali.

Hi Joanne - great to have you as a friend in NZ!
(I may just drop over for a couple of months when I'm in need for a break;-))
Looks like you've been well and truly bitten by the setter bug and are having a great time. Look forward to hearing more about setters in NZ!
All the best for 2008

Hi Joanne! Thanks for your visit to my page. I did have a nice and safe New Year! I didn´t even go out and see some fireworks because we did not bought some. Why freeze in to the bones for fireworks when you see some fireworks in TV?
I wish you a great 2008!

What a tremendous year she has had, there in the North Island.
Keep up the good work.

Hi Joanne,
I may meet up with you one day! My daughter lives in Massey, Auckland and I'm seriously thinking of going to NZ too - have visited a couple of times. I don't have any dogs now :o(( but seize every opportunity to cuddle anyone else's - I do work for IRWS, tho' being 'in' the breed from its very tiny beginnings... People advise me to have a small dog - but honestly once an Irish Setter has been in your life for 30+ years there is simply no other dog!
Ann
