Prostate Issues and Neutering

Hi everyone, I'm wondering if anyone has had this situation before. Our 7yr old male is recovering from prostatitis. It's the first time he's had it and it came on quickly. He had to be sedated in order to be checked as he wouldn't allow the vet to do a rectal examination (he has always hated his bottom being touched!).
