Many thanks for the invitation Eunice, and more than happy to become your ES friend. I too love to see all your pictures... a real pleasure. My pictures are still not ok ... still too emotional after the departure of my oldy boy, but if you want to know more about my boys please go to David McIlveen-Wright page.

Hi...Molly was chasing and stamping at them last year and one got her ...I scraped stinger out and held ice and she was fine but pretty much quit chasing them after that..will be interesting if she chases them this year again.

How close did Molly get to the pool?  hope she gets in soon and you get some wonderful pictures of her swimming.  Wish we had a pool here sometimes but hated the maintenance when I did have one!  Bet once she gets in she will want in all the time.  Is it gated off so she can not get to it when you are not home and she goes out alone?  I am surprised she has not decided to come in when you are in swimming....that's how all of ours (but the one afraid of water) ended up in lakes...they followed right behind us. Had to be locked up and kept locked up if we were canoeing as they would try to follow us . One incident of one swimming into middle of the lake was enough for us.

It is warm here today and getting ready to BBQ as tomorrow temperatures take another dip to where they really should be this time of year.  Molly will love us dining on the patio today but no way am I doing that tomorrow with her.  She will provide our entertainment while we eat...chasing flying leaves, birds or even batting her water polo ball around...seems she is really into that again lately and so funny to hear her growl with it in mouth while she roughhouses with it. It really wears her out wrestling with it...best outside toy we have found for our Irish.

We did our own pool work here but did not heat it.  We have several community pools here that are very nice that we can use so no more pools to keep care of.  I was hoping Molly would come swim with you if nothing else at first to cool off.  Our Molly hangs out inside in the air conditioning with it is as hot as you all have been.

Perfect time to teach her lots of tricks....Molly loves doing hers and even does a lot of them by hand signal only now.  I use another type of dog kibble for training treats which she loves so don't feel quilty rewarding her with treats for tricks.  Amazing what she will do for that tiny piece of kibble!

That is so funny that she did not like water melon...perhaps ours did cause I fed her off a fork to keep it from getting her ears all sticky?  but carrots she thinks are to roll on!   I just tried to find a training treat when she first came home that would not add too many calories as it was pretty much training round the clock here for the first couple of weeks...I carry it with us in my pocket when we walk also ...it is not her regular food but another one we had picked up a sample of back then....when it worked it became the official training treat....and she will let us know if we skip doing her tricks as she will start to perform them herself to remind us she wants those treats!   I usually found that when dark came was a good time to work with her for ten minutes inside on learning her tricks...as I had her full attention . She can do a pretty good show of them now...but am always looking for more to teach her. Alan lets me do all training here...he just spoils her rotten!

Eunice I can really see that Molly is really getting in some nice feathers since last pictures you posted.  She looks goregous!

Eunice I think the minute we changed her name she started to enjoy her new life and that was five minutes after meeting her....we are the lucky ones to have her and she just has been a joy...well worth that couple weeks of intense training here to undo the bad habits or to teach her indoor living....we just got lucky with her I realize and I would love to know where she came from.  Alan saw two young Irish while he was cycling today...about half hour from here and did not stop to talk to them,  We also have one in our neighborhood called Bailey....about a year younger than Molly but do not see her out often.  Just not many of them around here so people just remember in the 70' when they were the IN dog to have and so many had them that never trained them or had the time to devote to them that they got a bad reputation here....sure they are high spirited but that is part of who they are....and it takes someone like us who love their funny antics to train one , enjoy the eternal puppyness they all keep in some ways, and to spoil them rotten! I spoil Molly here also but also make sure she does not get too big for her britches!

I think whenever you have an IN dog they tend to overbreed them and not always for the best ....and people want them more for a status symbol than for loving the breed.  Hurts whatever breed is the new IN dog it seems .  Now seeing a lot of small chiahauas in rescues here and think that goes back to them being the IN dog for young movie actress'es here.  Puppy mills start churning them out as fast as they can but when all of a sudden they lose popularity the breeding stock and puppies end up in rescue.

Every month I come up to TVSN the TV station for the shopping channel.  I do a spot with skincare & makeup usually 3 days but I always go home every day because I can't bare to be away from my girls.  They are at Waringah Road Frenchs Forest & its usually Thursday, Friday Saturday towards the end of the month.  Where on the northern beaches are you?

Hi....just catching up on here before I start dinner....no snow here ...did get cold again but snow missed us.

Great on Molly staying alone inside for fiive hours...she is really coming along.  Ours was alone today for wee bit over that and wonder of wonders when I got home she actually kissed me under my chin!!!  Angie having a fit cause she did not get one but figure I only got one as Alan was not home....he left before we did this AM to get some work done on his car.   My heart just melted as this is the first time I got a kiss anywhere from her but on my hand.  Stinker sure makes me earn that kiss...only took almost a year and a half.

No repercussions for you all from the earthquake yesterday?  Hate that people are dealing with that....nature disasters are just so scarey ! especially since that is nothing we can really do to prevent them....just pray for advance warning.

Molly did make my day today...she always will cuddle but those kisses are few and far between even for Alan.  She likes to rub her neck and head over your neck and face...figure she is scenting  us or marking us as hers. None of my boys ever did that ....and they were almost too kissy!!!

Well your getting hot and we have a short cold spell here early part of the week....we still have another 5 weeks of winter weather here....can be a roller coaster as far as weather til about May here.  I hated seeing the damage and those poor people in NZ last night.  Has to be terriflying to go thru that .

Is Molly any closer to taking a dip in the pool?  Our Molly went and found her bone a few minutes ago and is thinking of where to put it to bed tonight....last night it was under the laundry in the basket.  Seems as long as we do not see where she puts it she does not keep rehiding it.  Wondering how long it will be until she eats this one....makes it cheap on giving her a bone as she hid the last one for about a month before deciding to chew it up and eat it.  Funny thing is if I give her the smaller version of this bone it is gone lickety split.

Is Molly all streched out with the cat cuddling next to her?  Think they are letting you know who is boss!  Just did tricks with my Molly....little stinker put on quite the show...knew when I was going to give her the the stay command after a sit so kept trotting over and sitting on the sofa....did not help that Alan and Angie were laughing at her.  I just left the room til she came to find me and we repeated it twice with her going to sit on the sofa on just a sit command!  Alan says I forgot to tell her where to sit. All her other tricks were perfect until she knew that sit with the stay was coming...even the ones we do with just hand signals....will have to work on that sit and stay and not let her by with her idea of if I am going to sit I want to sit on the sofa.

Just going to look online at NZ or watch our news to see what they are saying...tragic.

Just watched news pictures and story here.   No way they could be ready for that I guess but still so sad.

Our Molly will bark at someone at the front door but then wants to greet them...I just want her to make noise to let us know someone is around....so far she has quieted down when we tell her to.  Does Molly back up and sit on your laps?  Ours does it all the time especially to Alan....just so funny to me as my boys never did that  and do not think he would have let them sit on his lap like he does Molly.  She has got him where she wants him.

Amazing but I think they think they are really French Poodles.

News here just reported that one of our legislature representatives who is trying to overturn the Puppy Mill bill we just voted for few months ago has a big conflict of interest...seems his mother is a breeder who was cited three times in last year for violations.  Now they want to make it so we can no longer vote on agriculture matters...did not know puppies were agriculture!  grrrrrrrrrrrrr Seems like the urban areas outstate where most puppy mills are mostly voted against but cities voted for new restrictions and requirements to try to get more humane treatment for all dogs.  Puppy mill the other day had two people caring for 74 Collies and Bichon's in half of a doublewide trailer. Now those dogs and puppies are here in St Louis at our Humane Society.

located outside of cities in the country...amid farms or outskirts of small towns.  Is what I thought about agriculture...but they consider cows, pigs . chickens etc agriculture also. Other states also have problems with puppy mills here but Mo is known as the capital .  We have never purchased a dog from a puppy mill or pet store ...they used to sell them in the malls here and pet stores but that no longer happens.  Everytime we turn around there are more puppies/dogs being rescued from one of these mills...dogs in bad shape and no socialization.

I don't think Molly came from one of those as IS not that popular here...and her original owner did purchase her from a breeder is what we were told.  Just hate this whole mess...would like to put a few of those people into those tiny cages, limit water and let it sit and get all yucky, and not clean out cages and still dare them to tell me how humane that is?  Sorry did not mean to go off on a tangent here....just has me so upset that voters votes mean nothing here it seems.

We were told that they wanted her to be for a handicapped gentleman in a wheelchair...and that for some reason in May of that year he took her to his vet( had not had shots, heartworm pills etc) and wanted her put down.  The vet talked him into allowing her to go to Heartland Humane Society....who updated all her injections, got her on heartworm pills and nuetered her before she was put onto the adoption list,  I wish we could get our Molly's together ....bet they would be a pair!  and I would love to cuddle you r little Molly.  Does she cock her head when you are talking to her?  I love it when Molly does that ....like she is taking in and thinking how to respond to what you are telling her.

I don['t have Skype,  I think the breeder should have been very honest with that gentleman about IS....especially the late developement they have.  Not sure what all happened but know she was terrified of so many things and did not seem to know household noises...like water running, flushing toilets, microwave, even the tv.  She had to explore each sound ...and was fascinated while learning about sounds here in the house....only one she does not like at all is a vacumm cleaner.....she volunteers to go out the minute we get it out and stays out til we are done. Right now she is chewing that bone....so perhaps she has hidden it enough....if so guess she will get another on St Patrick's Day.

Your Molly sounds like she is a darling and I think you are as bad as I am in spoiling her....sort of like she is now the baby here and everything she does gets watched and enjoyed.  Or is it because we have both lost IS that we just seem to love our new IS...it's a breed that either hooks you or you run from I think.

does skype cost? how does it work?

That had to be scarey for Molly coming all that way on her own....poor baby! Have you tried to borrow a skateboard and just scoot it along so she can investigate it?  See how bad I am.....have to try to solve everyone of my Molly's fears here so just passing on a bit of my craziness to you!  I can just picture that tiny Molly in a crate and all the strange sounds she heard........then bingo ...there you all were....and I bet she wants no part of going away from you so perhaps the skateboard triggers that memory.....better not put this on regular forum or we might get jumped.  I wonder what Molly remembers....I can now say the word Heidi and she does not react at all.....infact we call her game of hiding the bone...hidey bone here.  So perhaps all the positive things we do dims those distant memories except for the really scarey ones?
