How did you find the American style of trimming and presentation?Did it influence any of your decisions and which do you think is more flattering to the breed, the American way or the English way? lovely photos it must have been an incredible experience for both of you,

Hi Kirsty, thank you for your comments. I thoroughly enjoyed judging the American Irish Setters, we hear so much here that is negative, and in my opinion most of it is unfounded.
The style of presentation is really not that different, the trimming is. It did not influence my decissions at all, I suppose it was easy for me to see through it, I found the very close trimming of the head and neck in some dogs did nothing to enhance them, I did like the long ears. I did'nt find the American dogs to generally have any more length of coat than ours, the precise shaping of it, maybe gives the impression of a more exagerated outline.
Which is more flattering to the breed? A great dog is a great dog in whatever style it is prepared, so I would have to say both.
