Boarding in a host family house - US

Hi! I am not sure how this works, but I just heard  about dogvacay.com in the US: they seem to organize boarding with host families as an alternative to kennels, in case you need to travel or go on a short holiday..

here in the UK we used a similar agency, barkingmad, and they are simply WONDERFUL: Oberon had the most lovely care from his hosts, they are trustworthy and welcoming. I am not sure if the vacaway service is at the same level.. actually barkingmad is a real agency and takes full responsability for their hosts, while it seems to me that vacaway is more based on a person-to-person search...

but maybe is worth exploring and maybe be useful for our US IS friends?
