Dear friends,

last week I bought some dog treats for Vito, things he knows and loves and something new: Dog treats that contain green lipp mussel, (I found this translation on LEO, I hope it is the correct english expression)... not because there`s something wrong with his joints or bones, just to improve his general health.

After the second stick he got sick, got diarrhoe and disgusting flatulences. I stopped with these sticks immediately as I suspected them somehow for Vito`s sickness. He got two sticks until I noticed: it was one on thursday, one on friday. Yesterday he threw up and we went to the vet immediately!! No temperature, the vet thinks it is the green lipped mussel as well. She said that some dogs react sensitively on theses ingredients.

Today still these flatulences. Vito don`t seem to mind them actually but I think of moving out! Can`t be in the same room where he is!!! Apart from that he has no diarrhoe anymore and seems very fit and in the best mood.

Now I give him fennel tea!

Do you have any experience like this? How can this still work in his body though he did`nt have further sticks since last friday?

Thank you so much!

Hi Christine, when my dogs get flatulence, I find that if i strick a match it take the smell away, so we always have a box of matches in ever room, It always works for us good luck
Hi Christine,

Never heard of green lipped mussle. However I am wondering whether Vito could have a wheat intolerance? Just a thought, reading the ingredients list (cereal).

Gina can't have wheat. She bloats up like a little barrel and yes she f....ts :)).
Hope Vito's tummy gets back to normal. It should be out of his system by now. Keep us posted how he's doing.
