Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World

Hi

I have a 6mth old male Irish who 90% of the time is just wonderful, listens responds and is loving and gentle  ......... But there are times he really can be a challenge, I will try and explain how .....

I/we ensure Murphy has good meals (now on 2 a day and a banana), mental and physical excersise and even rest times where he is encouraged to take a chill ....... But there are times that I think he is mouthy jumpy and just plain restless and gets deaf too ...... It can get pretty wearing .....

Tell me are these teenage tantrums ........ I cant quite get my head around the age comparison thing with dogs, I had it in my head roughly 7 times human but how does that make him a teenager?

I DIDNT say I wanted a "dog that watched me 24/7" you are overstating. But I tell you here and now Irish Red and White Setter boys only grow up to be gentlemen if they have clear and assertive guidelines.

If you want to live with a hooligan.... carry on giving him "choices"
Lots of good advice here ..........!
He is a puppy who listens and when he doesnt its his SHD ...... Not my first puppy but is my first Irish Setter ..... He is full of fun and so very loving and fills me with pride as folks comment on his excellent behaviour and stunning looks ..... Guess sometimes they get you tense and its best to relax and be friendly yet firm ........
