When to transition from puppy food to adult food

My 12 month field Irish Setter puppy just turned a year old wanted to find out here when you all transitioned your puppy's food to adult dog food. I feed him Purina Pro Plan.

Both my setters started to eat adult at about 12 months. This was the longest I ever fed puppy food to a dog, my cockers started to eat adult food at 8 months. Even my big dog (70kg of adult dog) started to eat adult food at 10 months.

Arthur is nearly eight months old and he has dry puppy food and Weetabix for his breakfast ,and canned adult food for his second meal.He has a Weetabix and a handful of dried adult food for his supper.He now weighs 24K ,he is now taller than my adult dogs but is very rangy.He needs to fill out a bit.He seems to be doing very well on the food we give him.I have never given a dog Weetabix for so long but he still loves it and there is no intolerance to the milk as other dogs I have had have shown.

I think having adult dogs around makes the transition to adult food easier.

My puppies are usually on 4 meals a day until 5 months old and 3 meals a day until 6 months old ( 2 milky meals of porridge or rice pudding and 2 meaty meals , usually tripe and plain terrier meal) at 6 moths they go on 2 meaty meals a day ( same as my adults) with a drink of milk at night......very old fashioned way of feeding but it has worked for me for so long, I see no reason of changing it!

Arthur was weaned on rice pudding and for about four weeks he loved it,he then decided he wasn't going to eat it anymore.He just refused point blank.My other dogs don't like it either.Of course I had stocked up on rice pudding...I don't like it but,luckily, Joan does!

Mine don't eat rice pudding out of a tin....but they love the old-fashioned home made version!!!!!
