What a delightful cover picture! Sure shows the rollicking setter to be a happy puppy. I think the white faces are the most precious as we treasure each day with our older friends.

hello Sharyn, I think Gentleman is behind most "english" dogs. He is behind all mine as well. Amazing that he so narrowly missed becoming a stud-dog!

They HAVE grown!!! lol Nami weighs in at about 25 kg (and she is a VERY petite girl!), Joe at about 33 kg. I would like both of them to grow at least another inch, and Joe still has quite a bit of filling in to do. So, they are not done yet! Excepting Redford, all my guys have been slow to mature.

I so love your beach photos, and of course, of Pixie's beautiful white face. Hope all is well there with you, Gavin, Justin and the girls.

Thanks for the comment. I thought that pic spoke tons for how boisterous and happy puppies are. Can't remember where I found it but I like it alot too.

Hello there Sharyn, we actually have a discussion about that...check back in the FORUM and you will find it! The dog on the picture here was a total pain to teach...about a year or so.
Some just take longer with this.

    Hi Sharyn,
I found with all four of the Irish I trained, it was necessary to teach a forced retrieve. Once the dogs understood there was no choice, they loved retrieving.

    Hello Sharyn,
Just read your comment to me about "Paige" Kerrsienna A Paige In History JW.Thank you very much for the lovely words about her. When our "Dana" had her last litter there were only two girls in the bunch of 9 little redheads. It was very difficult for me when I had to choose one of these girls for Pat Morgan. Both were equally very nice. I couldn't be more proud of "Paige's" accomplishments in the UK show ring. I do know that many UK Irish Setter Breeders and owners have a very negative attitude about the American Irish Setter, but thru "Paige" I hope she can turn these negative attitudes into more positive thoughts for the Breed as a whole. There are many Irish here in the USA that I too feel are very extreme but on the other side of the coin there are many Irish who are very, very nice. Much of the difference here in the USA is the type of grooming that is required competively.I am sure if UK Irish were groomed to the extent as done here they would look very different.
When I first arrived here in the USA never did I think I would adjust to the style of grooming, but over the years I have become quite a master at the process. Now in my mind I could never go back to the style of grooming that is done in the UK.When I look at a recent photo of "Paige" taken at the South of England Irish Setter show only wished I could hop on a plane with my grooming tools.Rightfully "Paige" is a lovely bitch but with some extra grooming tricks she could be visually outstanding.
Whenever I do a complete show groom from start to finish the average time spent on one dog is at least 3 hours plus. All my males are kept in oils when not showing to protect the pee feathering and this special oil does provide added moisture to the coat.Coats are NEVER dry.
Anyway I am rambling and must remember what is done in the UK shouldn't be compared to what is done here in the USA.I do know that if and when I return back to the UK I will never cut off the ear feathering. Personnaly love the long feathering as it really softens the expression.
Hopefully one day soon, a UK judge will have the power of conviction and award "Paige" that coveted Challenge Certificate.
Do you know what the general consensus/opinion of "Paige" is with other UK folks? I do know of a few as I do keep in contact with a few friends and all agree that "Paige" is lovely.
Again thanks for your comment. Very much appreciated.

    Kind Regards,

Rosemary & The Kerrsienna Clan of Irish Setters
