How many Irish Setters do you have?
2 girls & 1 Boy
How long have you owned Irish Setters?
Since 2003
About Me:
Since several years Irish Setters have been part of my life. The love and complicity that we share has been transformed into a true passion.

First Chickadee makes her entry into my life, she was supposed to be a dog, but destiny decided otherwise, and it was not such a bad thing after all, pure joy of which I didn't quite realise the enormity. With her came the discovery of the dog world: shows, obedience and even hunting. The show virus was quickly acquired as at her first show Chickadee was best puppy in show. Enough to say that I didn't have to be pushed into becoming passionately addicted. I have enjoyed some great moments at the shows with Chickadee. In 2006, she was Europasiegerin at Dortmund, consecreted best bitch in Belgium by the Belgian Irish Setter club and third best bitch in Holland. Beginning of 2007 she became German Champion.

The 4th April she had her first pups in the kennel where she was born and one of her daughters Girly Girl came to live with us. Girly don't needs to prove her worth in the show ring. She is not only already a German Champion but also Belgian Junior Winner 08, Dutch Junior champion and in 2008 she won Best in Show at the Junior Day of the Belgian Irish Setter Club at just 17months with an entry of some 80 junior Irish. Lately at Bath at only 25 months show in England she wins her entry into the English Kennel Club Studbook and a life qualification for Crufts, a great achievement which can only make me even more proud of choosing Girly.

26.05.2010 My dream come true, my first litter and the 2nd for Chickadee ! She give birth to 12 puppies (10 boys & 2 girls). From this litter a boy stayed with us, he is named "Scott" Riverwood Jungle Rock" He is the son of Multi & Int Sh Ch Sametsuz Sunset. He has already did a great impression on show by winning a lovely 3th best baby in show and 5th best baby in show . . . he just grow up like I want, the future will tell us if I have reason to believe in him ! ! ! Way to go Scott . . .

Hi Charlotte! Thanks for your comment! Milan has developed nice lately. If you´re going to Amsterdam Winner I wish you good luck!
  • Dee Rance

I am pleased for you both, I really must get Saffy's hips done but its finding someone who will do them properly, I have a friend who's dog was given a terrible score but doesn't have anything wrong with his hips. A bad radiologist can make things extra bad...
I will look forward to seeing you at Crufts I have said to someone else that we should get together for a glass of wine, or something, at Crufts It would be nice for everyone who can't SEE each other but have spoken for quit a while to get together, putting a face to the words, so to speak.
Speak soon, Dee and the girls

That's Ok Charlotte. I will survive without that video. But still many shows to come, many opportunities to get some good shots of Banthi ;)) And that is also not the most important :)
  • Joan Clancy

Thanks for your comment on my video! I'm glad to know that I am not the only one who torments my poor dogs like this!
  • Dee Rance

Well I am sure that we all love our girls, I know what people think of my 'lot' even if it isn't what I think, but I love them to bits, Girly is by My J isn't she??? very nice, We will have to meet at Crufts, I would like to take a 'good' look at her I know she is a threat to us!!!!!!, what class will she be in??? hope it isn't Post Grad. That is what Saffy will be in, I am putting Jas into Veteran I think that she will stand more of a chance in that class than in Open, I think that Lyn Dail likes her, not sure about Saffy, I know that she likes a smallish bitch....Dee and the girls
  • Dee Rance

    Hi there Charlotte
Does she have a CC in UK??? She has CASIB's I think that the wording is (anything contributing towards the title of Champion) and that will put her into Limit, BUT this year you are really lucky as she has still got another month before she is 24 month's of age, Yes, you are correct......Yearling is the Class for you.
Phew!!! at least we will not be in the same class. Although Saffy wouldn't give her any competition......But it is nice to have someone you can ''hope'' for......... and cheer for when they get a place...or win...See you there
    Dee and the girls
  • Dee Rance

    Hi there Charlotte
I understand the FCI rules because Jas is a Champion under their rules. Ireland use the same system. I would love to win a CASIB but have just missed out on them, when on offer, but I am up against an Irish person all the time, so sometimes am overlooked, but perhaps when Saffy comes out again she will get some!!!!
Look forward to seeing you at Crufts, it is the only show that I bench my girls at, (they both hate to be benched, so I tend to just leave them in the car).
It is nice to see different people from usual winning so will keep my fingers crossed for you, Lyn should like Girly she doesn't look to be a big girl, Lyn likes them smallish, go onto the Irish and UK website there are a couple of pictures of Lyn's bitch there...Dee and the girls

Only 8/9 weeks to Crufts. See you there
    Dee and the girls
  • Dee Rance

I entered a couple of days ago, I think the closing date is on the 5th but I haven't looked, I really must start getting Jas ready for it, Saffy has just chucked all her coat out, I think maybe she will be bald for Crufts....as usual.
  • Dee Rance

I think that you will find that there are many bitches in season at Crufts, so long as she doesn't turn her tail at everything, some people take their dogs in that state...Saffy would look good in the Yearling class, unfortunately she is in Post Grad, she is also throwing her coat because of the anaesthetic that she had about 6 weeks ago so hope that the few week to go will bring a bit of coat, well I can hope, can't I.......
  • Tineke de Jonge

    Hi Charlotte,

Can you mail me your email adress.

    Kind regards,
    Tineke
  • Yvonne Joerling

Hello Charlotte, hope you had a good start in the new year :-))
    Greetings from Austria
  • Dee Rance

If she does come into season for Crufts just keep her away from any males and if you have males either side of you then you could come to my bench and leave her with my girls, we need some class on our bench, well Saffy does, do you have a 'Cheep' perfume, sometimes if that is put around the bench it putts the males off. :D))) but that might encourage some unwanted two legged males :-)))
  • Wanja Jorge Westerlund

Thanks Charlotte! We love her a lot, and so far she's developing fine. Time will show how she'll become!

  • Caroline

    Hi Charlotte !
    Girls looks great :)
    Greetings Caroline& Luna
  • Dee Rance

    Hi there
I know what these 'girls' are like, when you don't want them to come into season they do...and when you do want them in season you have to wait for ever, they become like 'watched kettles' they never come to the boil.
Will see you at Crufts then....
All the best Dee and the girls

Oh I am sure that you have better things to do, but thank you so much for that, it is very kind of you, I actually wouldn't know where to start, apart from bragging about my beautiful girls and the ones that have gone before, but that would have me in tears all the time, Hope to see you at Crufts we can talk then you never know I might just take you up on your offer......Thanks again.

  • elaine barry

Thanks for the comment and for the photos. They were nice to see especially of Rogan who as you probably know is no longer with me. What a special day that was, one I will never forget.

  • colette tuite

I was afraid you would say that as i too am in yearling ,Tilly is just out of junior by 2weeks.I shall look out for you in the class, which i hope will not clash with showing my pointers.I have left one pointer at home to try to avoid the clash of pointers and irish. The Pointers are at least in the same hall although diagonally opposite the Irish Setters
  • Catherine Carter
