I live in beautiful Perthshire in Scotland, with my family (partner Chris and two children Holly - 12 and Jamie - 3) and two Irish girls. Tara is five now and we have had her since she was a eight-week-old pup. She's the best dog in the world; her temperament and personality are unlike any other breed I've owned. Her patience with baby Jamie knows no bounds, and she is more than tolerant of being dressed in a variety of Holly's accessories! She's the ideal companion, appreciates a long run but is equally content to be a couch potato. She has given me such a great introduction to the breed I have now got another little girl Tilly (Drumwhaur Sweet Dream). I love having two and hope to show Tilly in the future.
Hi Linda
Love the picture, as someone who bought one of my last puppies said, "I suppose I will have to but another Settee now!" They really should be called Irish Settee dogs!

Hi there Linda,
Thank you for the congratulations, I am, as anyone who knows me, just a wee bit prejudiced as far as Jas is concerned, I was also pleased for my Saffy she got second in Post Grad... and for everyone who was there but unfortunately some people go without a prize, doesn't mean that they are not good dogs, don't let that put you off as far as showing is concerned we seem to take it in turns as far as winning.. If you ever need any help, don't hesitate to ask, I am not like some of them, I will try and help anyone, and if something isn't working (as it often doesn't in dogs, they are so individual) then there is always another way of doing things, or perhaps you have already shown dogs!!!! Where abouts are you from?? and as far as Chloe is concerned I call her ''my secret weapon'' she is one of the best handlers there is at the moment, Jas wouldn't have half of what she has if it wasn't for her, she handled her on the move for me when she got her C.C. and R.C.C and many of her Green Stars, Speak soon Dee and the girls
Hi there Linda
It doesn't matter if Tilly is too young for Alva, that is a fairly important show with respect to Irish up here in Scotland, although only an Open show everyone who is anyone will be there, and some!!!!... So you should try to be there, being seen is very important!!! and it is one of the very few shows that you can bring a ''baby'' to, so do come, don't feel that you shouldn't just because she is too young.
I don't know when the Perthshire show is or Alva , we are going down to the ISAE shows for the Friday and Saturday, (taking my tent). Then we are going on the 'Circuit' in August and there are not many judges that a 'good' for us this year, so we will save some money....
Do try and come to Alva, as I say its quite important to get 'your' face seen. I don't do many Open shows. Who is your other Irish??? seen the pictures....Dee and the girls
Hi there Linda
Good, glad you decided to try Alva, you will enjoy it I am sure. I kind of know the breeding of your first young lady, and yes, you shouldn't be able to find a rosette big enough for them, I always say, as far as showing is concerned, I take the best dogs, and bring the best dogs home, if the judge can't see that, then that is their problem.....I think that they are the best of breeds, I did however love all the others that weren't Irish Setters, my ''Pedigree Bitsers'' and the Akitas they were lovely for different reasons, but non-the-less beautiful, I will however see if I can join the new sections!!! Dee and the girls
Hi Linda,
Great idea about creating the Scotland group. I'd also like to see how many Scottish setter owners there are out there :-). I show and work Busby but since it's my first setter it's all still reasonably new to me and I'm still learning. You have two lovely girls. It must be quite busy around the house with the wee puppy!! When's your first show?
thats ok i have no idea where that is! Cullen is on the north east coast. i'm about half way between aberdeen and inverness. on a very clear day i can see the sutherland hills out my window! hope that gives you a better idea of where i am x
Hi Linda,
Glad to be your friend :-) and thanks for your comment on Sarah.
She's that kind of Irish I have always wished to have :-) ..... an enchanting creatureand who knows how to use her charm :-)) Just love her!
Who are the parents of your puppy girl? It sound exciting that you are attending shows, looking forward to hearing from your experiences!
Regards, Marta
Hi Linda, Thanks for the comment on our page. My husband is a great golfer and wants to travel to Scotland some day. I love your photo's and your page is beautiful! Your dogs are beautiful!
Hi there, Yes mine are non swimmers as well, Saffy is kind of trying to go that little bit extra, and take here feet off the ground. But then she panics and does the 'front feet out of the water and splash as hard as you can' thing. but she is trying. As for Jas well she has never got more than her legs wet.
Have you been anywhere lately?? Which River is it that you walk by?? As far as the shows are concerned well you win some you loose some, its all in how you handle yourself when you do either, been doing a lot of loosing these days, but hey we have nothing to prove, and its nice for someone else to win (Occasionally) Don't like to do the loosing thing too often though!!!!!
We are getting ready for out trip to the 'Circuit' in Ireland, there are 5 shows in a week, very busy and its a good laugh though, anything can happen and often does, it's all the foreign judges, they can do anything and as I said often do, all good fun. Dee and the girls
Hi Linda,
We met at Camperdown, when Hilda introduced us. My Maeve is Ella's sister, from Rosie's first litter. I'll look forward to seeing Tilly at Alva. The breed open show is nice and the venue is lovely. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
Hi again Linda,
Lovely that your daughter is going to handle Rosie. Rosie is such a pro - she will be the perfect teacher for Holly. Thank you for your kind comments on Maevie. She is a darling and we love her and her sis to bits. Maeve is the lady, and Bridget the tomboy, but from the day we brought Bridget home they have been a pair. This is the first time I've had two together and I would never have believed how well it works. I bet Tara is enjoying having a mischievous wee sister to play with too. Look forward to seeing you at Alva and I must remember to enter Perthshire. We'll meet Tilly there. Ruth
Hi there Linda.
How are things with you and yours??? We are all getting over our 'trench foot' after Ireland it rained persistently, we were up to our knees in mud I think I got through at least two coats a day (drenched through) Will we see you at the ISCS Open show???? I hope so, if you do please come and speak I would like to see your new baby!!!!! Dee and the girls
Hi there Linda
Perhaps if you are going to show Tilly you might think of bringing her along to the show, its good experience for her, and this show will let babies in.
We had one good day in Ireland, got the bitch Green Star, BOB, G2 so that was a great day, we beat Davey Laidlaw's boy Mack a very nice dog, for BOB, so we were very pleased with that, as for all the rest well it was seconds in every other show, still although I would like it, you can't win them all!!!!! Speak soon Dee and the girls
Hi there again Linda, the llamas are called Dorito and Taco, but unfortunately because of Arthritis and impending old age they are now in a sanctuary, I miss them and the ponies and chickens and sheep etc etc. Dee and the girls
please don't think I am stalking you!!!!!!didn't see all the picture comments......my daughter did Scarlet and I did Ros just girding my loins to do another one its pot luck how they turn out.....Dee and the girls
Hey what do you mean ''before''.
Yes I will try and remember to say hi to Nicole and as far as the grooming tips are concerned, if you need to know anything just ask and if I know the answer I will let you know it. The main thing to remember is to make it look as natural as possible, its a lot of hard work to make the dog look as if 'nothing' has been done to it.
See you soon Dee and the girls
Hi Linda
You're not the only one that's nervous, we haven't even been to a ringcraft class as they are all closed until September. The puppy is 6 months old in October, she's probably going to show me up that's why I've only entered her in one class! She jumps around like a kangaroo instead of running, biting my hand in the process! It should be laugh for everyone else though.
Millie (child) has no choice to be gentle with Molly (dog) as she just gets knocked over if she's not!
Hi Linda,
Just saw your comment on Dee's page :-) Are you all going to Alva and is it this weekend?? I might come and say hello too if I can.
Hope everything is going well with your wee girl.
Your dogs and little girl are so cute. Can you believe how much alike the Irish Setters look. The one where Tara is stretched out on the sofa reminds me of BaiLee. He lies like that even in the shower. So precious. So beautiful.
I was going to tell you about it actually; the photographs are from Leuchars beach. Went there with my husband a couple of weeks ago and Busby absolutely loved it. It is such a nice beach! Thanks very much for your tip in the Scotland group. Unfortunately Busby found a dead seal just at the end of the walk and rolled near it - you can imagine that he didn't smell very nice on the way home in the car!!
Will try to come and say hello in Alva. It's not that far and I know where the hall is - we had our Gordon setter champ show there in the spring.
I know! He smelt bad for quite a few days afterwards - sort of leathery!!! (despite all the rubbing down with wet towels and brushing and spraying with coat sprays!) Won't keep us from going there again, though ;-) We should all try and meet up there sometime; that would be great. Are you going to show both girls in Alva?
Hi Linda,
It was nice meeting you and Holly on Saturday and I hope you enjoyed the day. We managed to get up to Alva Glen without getting too wet, fortunately, and Busby enjoyed racing up and down the paths :-)
Thank you for that. I really thought that Hilda was going to get the top honers, it doesn't always go that well, like everything else, you win some you lose some. We have done our fair share of loosing..... its all in how you do both, there is only one thing worse than a bad loose,r its a bad winner, I think that is something that more people should remember in this ''game'' hope to see you soon, will you be going to Gundog Breeds in November, there is still time to enter........
Dee and the girls
Remember if you need to ask anything don't hesitate I will always help if I can!!!!
Hi Linda,
Just wanted to check how you all are. Hope you've been enjoying the sunny weather with your two Irish girls. Will you be at Gundog Breeds in Ingliston next weekend? Would be nice to see you there.
All the best,
Nicole & Busby
Hi Linda,
I'm sorry to read that you've been having a rough time and I hope that things will get better again soon. It would have been nice to meet up with you but we'll hopefully manage some other time at a show or even on that setter walk we've been planning for a while now :-)
Will let you know how it went at Ingliston and wishing you a very nice weekend too :-))
Lots of love,
Nicole & Busby
