    Hi Catherine
We live on the edge of Savernake Forest & we have to be careful in the summer months. Only a week before we had been sledging in the same field covered in 10 inches of snow!
    See you soon

Thanks so much, I am enjoying having another Irish boy in the house. My life has been so empty since I lost Scout. My girls are so happy also it has been so wonderful watching them come alive again. I am not the best photographer but, will post some as soon as I have them.

  • Laura Kolbach

hug Pete from Danka and Odin ;-)

bonjour, hope you had a nice time yesterday!

    Hi there Catherine
Glad it helped, but I think that if you use the Avon, in-between shows on his back and sides, you may find that it absorbed the oil without making him look like a 'greased pig,' and it would be better for your home as well, all that Almond oil collecting muck etc is dreadful.
Next time we are at a show I will let you have the stuff that I put on him just before going into the ring
All the best Dee and the girls .

  • Nadine Bonjean

    Hi Catherine,
It was very nice meeting you too and I just loved your old gentleman Peter :-) We got home OK, although it was a bit scary at one point with lightning and horizontal rain/hail/sleet... It was definitely a great day and hopefully we'll meet again at some other show!!

Hi there Catherine that is so rite, it has been hard, wanting to say something and not being able to, we had to find more before anything could be said, and you are so rite, there is no blame to be attributed to anyone. If you have read any of the replies that I have written, I have tried to stress this...you cannot be blamed for something that you do not even know exists...I think both Meg and I have had a great weight lifted from our backs.
When I answered the first comment I was in tears, didn't realise that it had affected me so much...and again you are rite, talking about it does help. I have to talk to Meg, and I will try and put a Forum on the site, I see Carol has scanned the leaflet on to the 'Crufts 2009' blog but only people that are looking at that site are seeing it, Will speak soon and thanks again. Dee and the girls

Bon week-end...

    Hi there Catherine
I tried to put something on but it just wouldn't go. What I wanted to say was please don't panic about this, I will be mating Saffy in the spring as well. There isn't anything that can be done at this stage as to eliminating any dogs, we can't tell. I think that we must tell puppy buyers of ALL the problems that can occur in the breed. I think that is the only way to go. If people are told about Bloat and things like this then we can keep an eye (excuse the pun) on these things at this early stage, the beauty of a recessive gene is that it can stop as spontaneously as it can start. We as a breed are known for our up front attitude as to the problems in the breed, we shouldn't have a problem with exhibitors, its the pet owners that need telling, and I think that they will not be put off by all this, well I hope not. So please don't panic. I am sure that we will get to the bottom of it, I think that it will be like CLAD and we will be able to reduce its affects, gradually.

    Bonjour,
  • Susan Stone

Thanks for your comments, Catherine. Still enjoying the high;-))
  • Dee Rance

    Hi there Catherine
Thanks for your support, she is and has adapted really well, but at the weekend I was in totally new surroundings for her..Not being able to find me when I was trying to get her to come over to me, was eye opening, (excuse the pun) but when she just ran into the fence, when the others had gone over to the other side of the field, that was really unexpected...They adapt so well, that we don't know when they have lost their sight, we would be going really mad, if it happened to us, but they just keep going, as if nothing was wrong, but we find out in the end, if they are lucky. Again thanks for the support Dee and the girls

    Hi Catherine,
Yes I did, just got very much annoyed with something ;=))

Oh my goodness Catherine I didn't recognise him, hope that his coat is still looking good. ;0))
He looks gorgeous so happy just love him......
  • Kristina Brannlund Westin

It is so funny showing a old and fresch veteran. My Viktor won last year BOB Veteran in Stockholm at Nordic Winner Show. Trudy Walsh was the judge, and so nice seeing how much he enjoys it. But than one show I could see that he lost this joy so then I stoped showing so now he is enjoying life at our place, but still comes for the long walks in the woods.
    Greetings Kristina
  • Cheryl Gorey

    Hi Catherine
Thanks for your comment on my Clancy. He is a lovely boy and I am very pleased with his structure too!
I just had a look at your pics. They are great. You have two lovely old boys. I have a boy who will turn 11 on 15 April and my old girl is 10. I like your young ones, particularly your boy's head.
    cheers
    Cheryl

    Bonsoir Catherine,

  • Dee Rance

    Hi there Catherine
I am so glad that you have had yours tested, but still keep a close ''Eye'' on them for their behaviour...(excuse the pun) I have learnt not to take anything for granted, but thanks from the other Irish for doing this, it is a worry until you get the ''all clear'' That is what Saffy has just had, she isn't affected by this problem, whatever it is... I am so relieved about that. It was lucky that you went with your girl because would you have know about the growth??? can it be seen with the naked eye?? Oh I am so pleased that you didn't let that one go, does it have a name??? I hope that your girl is ''with children'' who did you put her too??? I am still waiting for Saffy to come into season, she is being a watched kettle, at the moment, she just won't come into season, got her legs crossed....lets hope that she doesn't stay that way!!! ;o)) Speak soon Dee and the girls and again THANKS from the breed in general, we need more people like you. To step up and be counted, thanks Dee
  • Charlotte Godart - Riverwood

    Merci beaucoup pour Girly ! ! !

  • Kirsty williamson

    hi Catherine,
i see you have mated your bitch, best of luck I hope it wasn't too much of a headache finding the right dog in the present climate, i am hoping to mate my bitch backend of the year and have started looking now but struggling to find exactly the lines I want and have got pedigrees coming out of my ears , we must be mad.

  • ursula wilby

    Hello Catherine...
No puppies until the 11th of may (I hope) but she is HUGE and I am NOT looking forward to a record litter...
Instead I keep trying to convince myself that there will big puppies...but no more than 10. Or at a stretch 12.
She is finding it hard to eat anything and is very off most things.
Only thing she can get down without any problem is catshit and seaweed...not the ideal diet.
Although I could put it out on a blog or discussions as an optional diet for VERY pregnant bitches!:-)
    Good luck with your lot!
  • Nadine Bonjean

  • ursula wilby

I normally just feel if the bitches are pregnant and leave it at that. Its nothing I can do anything about anyhow, so it may as well come as a surprise...one way or the other. She had 10 last time but is far bigger now and reminds me of of when I had those 17, 18-litters...I hope I am mistaken. Especially as I can hardly get her to eat...other than her own choice of menu.
And to me that is not the best one...:-)
But perhaps I should trust her instinct?
  • lyn hathaway

    thanks alot catherine
  • Nicole Wilson

eh oui!!! I hope I'm not going to be too busy but hopefully the two boys will get on well eventually. I can't get our youngster into Britain yet because of the rabies and import regulations so Busby will still have to wait for a while to get his new friend....But I'm very excited about it :-)
How are your boys and girl? I've seen you're waiting for puppies! That's definitely exciting too. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a nice and healthy litter!
  • Nicole Wilson

He is still with his breeder, Ilona Niederberger (also on this site) in Germany, who will look after him until he is allowed to come to Britain. We were there in March to choose him but Busby only saw him from the car window ;-) He'll be quite a bit bigger in the autumn when we'll go and pick him up but I'm hoping to be able to go and see him a couple of times before then....
  • Laura Kolbach

hello Catherine, all good here, was just a bit busy with some swedish guest and kind of confused with all the old memories that came up. hope all is well with you and specially kim, going to write a normal mail in the evening and ask questions :-)
  • ursula wilby

You mean what do I feed her NOW? (Appart from the cat-shit and seaweed). Well just about anything I can get her to take...(like a handful a day). Mince, boiled eggs...you name it, I have tried it. Seems to work one meal and not the next.
Prior to this she has been fed on Royal Canin. Needless to say THAT food is now so totally vile to her she will turn her head away in disgust!
Ah but there is a new eatable...chickenshit...wow! :-)
  • Pat

    Hi Catherine,
Many thanks for your birthday wishes and don't worry about being late - it was nice of you to send your best wishes.
I have had a really super Setter day.
    Pat

    Catherine,

  • ursula wilby

Puppies look great...thank god there is no need for a picture of the breeder at this stage...no sleep does not help:-)
Oh and yes, she has now eaten a "normal" meal...thank god!
  • Dee Rance

Ah Arni just become his friend, didn't know anything about it, wasn't on line over the weekend so couldn't see.
Am still waiting for Saffy to come into season.. but think it is imminent. Or perhaps I am wishing it that way, but she is starting to swell so keep your fingers crossed, will have a look at the site and see if I can put my 10p worth in.
All the best Dee and the girls
