About Me:
Absolutely dedicated to the breed, along with English Setters.
Born in England, I moved to Australia as a child, and in my teens started importing Irish Setters from Wendover Kennels, and English Setters from Suntop Kennels. My latest Irish imports in 2004, 2009 and another in 2013 are all from the beautiful Copper's Kennel in Sweden.
I am a qualified Championship Judge for All Gundogs and the Non Sporting Group, and an Open Show Judge for all Toys, Terriers and Hounds.
My judging takes me all over the world, something I enjoy immensely.

Hello again Myra - apologies for not having responded sooner to your kind comment about my girl. Yes, I was very lucky to have such a beauty as my first Irish. I have not been able to do much showing recently but did get to Crufts, and hope to get back into the swing of things before too long. As and when you are in the UK, do let me know, and perhaps we can meet to say hello at one of the shows. All the best, Sue

PS How is the reading coming along????????:-)
  • ursula wilby

    Oh my god Myra!
I dread the thought of a traslation via the net!!!!!
I have tried it once just for fun...and it was fun! But not meaning the same as being correct!
It falls flat on its face when there are words with different meanings and there are plenty of those in both swedish and english.

At least you can look at the drawings:-)
This litter will have the theme Bob Dylan-songs.
As to the actual name of my puppy and what I will call her...I am not certain yet.
I feel I need to "test" it once I have chosen so that it feels right...(stupid, I know)
    Love
    From VERY sunny Sweden!

I found time last evening to at last read all about Bumble and the blogpost 'Water Babies'. All such lovely and interesting reading. It's lovely when a dog that has been such a sweetheart all of her life can live to such a great age and still have such good quality of life and be a good mentor for the other youngsters. It's a lovely sunny but not too hot a day here in Cornwall, beautiful when it's like this for humans and dogs. I hope Lupin is continuing to enjoy her life with you. I had my little Lynwood bitch at 15 months and her confidence grew daily, I had hoped for a litter from her last year but she wasn't interested in mating at all so I mated her half sister instead and will not try mating Diva again until I want another puppy so maybe next year. I love hearing about your life with your dogs down under even if it does take me a while to get around to reading it!

    Good morning (?!) Myra!
Thank you for comment on my photos, we have been having a bad time with the foal and both her and mother Ivy have spent the last week at the animal hospital (at HUGE expense) and to top it all the outcome has been rather uncertain. But now it looks as if they are coming home today and I am just waiting for the last confirmation from the vet.
Remains the scary act of transporting foal and mother in a trailer for 1 1/2 hours drive.
I will do an update on all that.
Vilda has coped fantastically with her big litter and they are now beginning to eat...and covering me in the process.

Good thing I am past caring about my appearance! :-)
  • Laura Kolbach

Hello Myra--did you receive my reply about Seamus--I somehow think it didn't send properly as it doesn't show in the thread?

Thanks for the welcoome Myra. I was interested to see that your first dogs were Wendovers. I notice from your picture that the two dogs look very much like Rory - even down to the white tuft on the chest. I have always said that dogs with Wendover in them have a particular look and seeing your pics and Michelle Websters (whose dogs are related closely to Rory) proves this for me. I'll add some photos of Rory when I have more time (and find out how to do it!)
    Jo

Hi again - there are now more photos - must try and find some more - I'm sorry to say, I don't have as many as I'd hoped - not much of a photographer, I'm afraid - tend to leave it to others! Also, most don't show the white tuft.

Hi Myra. thanks for your lovely comments. I know the Christmas ones are a but daft, but they just summed up his personality completely - always so laid back at home - a complete looney when out - just as an Irish (even an Irish girl like me!) should be

  • Dee Rance

    Hi there Myra
Thanks for the comment on the blog, I was just so thrilled to finally get her pregnant, she needed a dog that just got on with his job, definitely not a shrinking flower...and the job was done in seconds, she may have been a little reluctant, well very reluctant, but hey it worked...will keep all informed, now all I have to do is sell the puppies to good homes, not easy....Dee and the girls
  • Laura Kolbach

hi Myra, thanks for your comment on "bad-topline Danka" :-) i am very critical with my own dogs as well but honestly said, she looks gorgeous right now, finally fully matured i guess? :-) (not in brains, she is still my wild silly girl, love her!!!)

    Hi Myra,
We recon the "super house" will be ready for moving in in late august. The electricians finnished their work today. The reason it have taken so long is that we choose to do most of it ourselves. You are most welcome to stay with us when you visit Sweden if you want.
So far we done little about our garden, but I think you will like it, it oversees the forrest about a week ago we saw an elk with two calfs.

    All the best
    Benny & Pia

    Hello Myra
Thanks for your kind comment, since she arrived she hasn't grown a good coat ! I have been told that this is common when they move hemispheres, so I haven't shown her much up to now, so it was nice to get a place today!
    Speak to you soon

    Hi Myra

Thank you very much for the lovely card and comments about Niamh :) She's been an angel so far (though I know that can change at any time so we're enjoying it while it lasts!).

Hope to introduce you to her soon.

    Melinda

  • Melinda Auld

    Hi Myra

Hmmm...has my life changed much? Let's see...aside from the terminal lack of sleep, wandering around all day wondering when I'll get to have my breakfast and trying to discover the cure for split nipples in the 3 hours between feeds, it hasn't changed too much LOL

Actually, Niamh has been a pretty good baby. She has had an unsettled day today, but up until now, we really have had nothing to complain about. The doggies are over the shock of it now - they've been sleeping through her screaming today, waking only to come give her a lick or to push at her blankets (which is a great way to know when to change her!). I can't wait for you to meet her. She's such a special little bundle :)

    Melinda

Oh Ivy will find something to grow fat on on any continent!
Apart from putting on weight...she is a terrific horse and Alexandra absolutly loves her to bits. A totally fearless horse for showjumping...and the way it looks, also a good brood-mare.
But she is supposed to be getting back in to competition-shape soon...poor Ivy...but she does look rather like a barrel now! :-)
