How many Irish Setters do you have?
2 girls right now: Neita & Zilou. dear Odin & Danka watching over us from doggie heaven :(
How long have you owned Irish Setters?
since 1997 february
About Me:
WW'03 EUVW'08 Ch C.I.E. Berboss Instant Coffee (1996-2010) - for me just Odin - was my first setter, she left me 2nd January 2010 after 13 years of friendship. Odin was my all and everything, my best friend in good and bad times. She taught me so much about canine intelligence and behaviour, about love and loyalty. She was purchased for being a normal dog but very soon I got bitten by the show bug. She was a real show girl and compensated my faults in the show ring :) It was her soft character and look-at-me attitude that charmed all people meeting her, friends, strangers and even judges. Thank you Odin for sharing your life with me!
***************************************************************************************
After much thinking I decided to get another girl and doing some research, I ended up in Sweden. This is how Danka - MultiCh C.I.E. C.I.B. Copper's Music 'N' Paws' - came to live with us in 2005. And yes, she taught me new things about canine behaviour :) Through her I was able to get to know the naughty and the run-run-run side of the Irish Setter. She is referred to as 'crazy Danka' by the setter club, hm, does it say it all? So different from Odin, but oh so lovable as well. A real clown, adoring kids, loving dog shows and having so much fun in the fields. Having 13 champion titles and being the first setter to qualify in the field on a Hungarian field trial and gaining CIB by this. Very intelligent, observant and empathetic. Thanks Danka for being with me, love you girl!
***************************************************************************************
And then Neita - Full CH Copper's Wine 'N' Roses HJCH RJCH - arrived. Still cannot decide if she has more angel or devil inside her. She is the sweetest, wants to be close to you all the time, would love to crawl under your skin if that would be possible. Everyone is in love with her because of her beauty and character - bet if I would give her away, people would want to give her back the day after :) She is the destroyer in the house, eats sofas and doors but when she looks at you with those eyes, you just can't be angry on her (for a longer time that is...). She is a big actress as well, pretending to be a real blond - was hard to realize that actually she has brains and a lot! Unbeaten in baby-puppy-junior classes, we look forward to challenges in adult classes. Neita is a talent in the fields as well, already managed to get a CQN just one year old. She backs from the first second on and does not point but sets like a real setter :-)
***************************************************************************************
Pawsword Northern Song, little Zilou - the one I know from the first second on, being Danka's daughter. The one that unites all the positive virtues of Irish Setters without having a bad detail. She has only been shown in baby and puppy class because of big sister Neita. Zilou is getting better with every day and seems to develop into a copy-paste of Danka. The best character ever, the best working abilities. The girl that makes me smile with every move she makes. Love you so much, little girl!

    Lack of time and imagination;(((

    Kram Annika

Laura mondtam valami jót egy szetterről tegnap? Felejtsd el! Ma meggyilkolta a macimat, ráadásul a szemét lenyelte. Most azon izgulhatok, hogy mikor jön ki belőle hátul. Nagyon de nagyon gonosz :(
  • Carmen Lorenzi

    Hallo Laura
  • ereni

:) I am thinking of you....
Are you going to have another red beauty? Maybe Danka needs a friend as well.
If I have bigger flat and better job, I prefer to have 2 dogs to one mainly because of Isis.
    Take care
  • Susan Stone

    Hi Laura,
What a lovely photo of baby Danka in the snow!!! And that just made me realize I missed her Birthday:-(((
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Danka - this may be the only time you get to eat a cake all to yourself...
from Susan, Glen, Erin and Shannon
  • Susan Stone

  • ursula wilby

Tack för ditt grattis...känns himla skönt! :-)
  • Lynne Murray Hogsflesh

Ahhh how quickly babies grow up...5 already, wow!

& yes you are too hard on yourself, the picture is captivating & I'm not the only one who thinks so...look back atwhere you posted it. See? lol xx
  • Astrid Landsaat

Laura, what a nice gift from Orijen! Ginger would like a collar like that too.
  • Dee Rance

Well most of it is dog stuff, (the mess that is), and I didn't think of that, you are quiet rite, and to the other question, yes and no, yes when she was pregnant and nursing but no permanently, but at least now she has someone to play with. They do so love to play with each other, and she will still answer me back, especially when I am on the phone. But that is her personality and I don't think that I would like her any other way. Dee and the gang
  • Dee Rance

    Hi there Laura
I know what you mean, Saffy is such a character, you really can't be angry with her for too long, she can make you scream at her for doing something wrong, and the next minuet she is cuddling you, such a sweetie. How is Danka coping??? I know how you will be, been down that road far too often..the good days will come back, but Odin will never be forgotten.
All the best to you all Dee and the gang
  • Dee Rance

I used to have a small farm, and get so upset when I lost an animal, for whatever reason, then someone told me.... when you have livestock you have deadstock....it is how you deal with them in-between them being born and them dying that is all that counts. I have taken that with me through my life, and there is the other one...that the last kind act we can perform with our animals is to let them go, go with dignity and compassion, that too has always gone with me...and if we didn't care we shouldn't have animals, they don't ask to be born so they should have a good life, that doesn't mean that they should be spoilt, because that isn't kind, but live a good happy healthy life as we can give them. So don't be worried about being so upset, let it go...she deserves it...All the best Dee and the gang

  • Nicole Wilson

Opera - der Internetbrowser :-) kennst Du vielleicht ja schon...
  • Catherine Carter

    Hello Laura,
How are you? Have you still got snow ? Here it is gone but very very cold! But dry so the dogs love it!
  • Catherine Carter

Oh yes plenty of snow! And sunny! Danka must have loved her walk....did you get lots more great photos too?
  • Catherine Carter

Never mind the photos then....I am sure the exercise did both of you good on Sunday afternoon! More cold weather and snow forecast for England next week...if it turns white again I will try to practice with my new small camera.....but there are so many good photographers on ES now,it is a tough job to keep up!
  • Catherine Carter

Oh no don't be!....you have got some great action shots of your dogs! And I always prefer to see a dog on the move....they are not statues anyway!
  • Dawn Riddell

Thankyou so much for your support. Losing Bailey is so hard, he was a brilliant dog, my best, most special friend
    Dawn R.

Hi Laura, Your dogs look terrific and your photo's are great. We will be posting more pics of Derry as he is now nearly 16 weeks old and very, very naughty. He believes no means yes, yes means yes and what's yours is mine and what's mine is mine. Consequently I now own nothing of my own. Derry and Norma. [he hasn't discovered the computer yet.]
  • Lynn Spencer

Laura, thankyou so much for your very kind birthday wishes for Megg.
    It is very much appreciated.
  • Annika Liikanen

    Kram Annika
  • Angela Roberts

Well at the moment! Spice and Rosa the bitches are staying until I decide which one I like the best and a friend of mine has the one I decide not to keep and lets me show it anyway. They are quite different and it was difficult choosing as Molly was also a lovely puppy but Rosa has personality plus. The dog Chase who I love to bits is staying for a while, I find it hard to keep dogs and bitches together but who knows, maybe I can find a show home for him but where he will live indoors as a family pet too.
  • Cheryl Gorey

Hi Laura, I'm so glad Danka is doing well. It is interesting to watch the changes in behaviour when one of the dogs passes. I know both of mine now have decided to sleep in places where my Monty always slept during the day and during the night I hope you are doing OK as well. We have a greater struggle to accept their losses.

I am hoping for a new girl puppy this year. I have been waiting for 4 years for a little girl to come into our home, so I hope this is the year!!! I look forward to hearing about your plans when they do come to fruition for you. Have a great week. Cheryl XX
  • sammi pease

Oh...I think Danka would have lots of fun with us in the forest....but we might not see them back for a while...!!!! You are welcome to visit...anytime...!!! (Are you going to be at Crufts ?)
  • Deborah Christopher

Yes there is!! We couldn't stand the silence after Oska left us so suddenly. He's 14 weeks old and nearly as big as the setters already.
  • Susan Stone

    Thanks!

Isn't he just too goo to be true???
