How many Irish Setters do you have?
22
How long have you owned Irish Setters?
40 years
About Me:
Absolutely dedicated to the breed, along with English Setters.
Born in England, I moved to Australia as a child, and in my teens started importing Irish Setters from Wendover Kennels, and English Setters from Suntop Kennels. My latest Irish imports in 2004, 2009 and another in 2013 are all from the beautiful Copper's Kennel in Sweden.
I am a qualified Championship Judge for All Gundogs and the Non Sporting Group, and an Open Show Judge for all Toys, Terriers and Hounds.
My judging takes me all over the world, something I enjoy immensely.

Actually there were plenty of birds flying about, so you just had to wait for a short time. :-)
I suppose that was "no pets on the beach" does...loads of birds and pretty tame too!

I am not a great Christmas-fan at the best of times and with having been away for two weeks, the workload is just getting worse. And the darkness just makes me want to go to bed...instead of wanting to work.
Then there have been massive problems with Ivy (Alexandras horse - you know the big white mare) she got twisted intestines while I was in Florida and so ended up in emergency operation (took 6 hours and they had to remove 7 meters of intestines). The cost of this is beyond anything imaginable with dogs.
So far I am up to 127 000:- swedish crowns and its not quite over yet.
Only 20 000:- covered by the insurance as saving the foal was a massive cost as well. This coming weekend it will be Stockholm and selling + signing books.
So if I am not looking forward to Christmas as such, I am certainly looking forward to some time off!
    Enjoy your garden!
    It looks just wonderful!
    Love
    Ursula

Thank you for the comment on Ivy, I know that we love them all and they all leave a huge gap, but Ivy WAS very special to us...we are putting all our hopes on her foal...just back from Stockholm and worn out as always after one of those selling trips.
And it was cold too...so enjoy your weather Myra!

Thanks Myra, it was a tough December but things are looking better now and Willow is improving daily. I can't believe that 4 sessions of hydrotherapy would improve her mobility so much and she is booked in for 12 sessions initially and then as much more as she needs to get her as sound as possible. She still finds it easier at the moment to pick the bad leg up and carry it when she goes faster than a walk but the physiotherapist says there is no reason she should not get back to normal. I'm being pessimistic at the moment so that I am not disappointed. The puppies are gorgeous, the best litter I have had, will try to take pictures this weekend as they are 6 weeks now.

Hi Myra - Thanks for your note. Glad that you are enjoying the site. Still amazes me how it has taken off and it is great to know there are people around the world that are as crazy about Irish Setters as me.

Myra. Lupin's pups are looking really good. You must be so proud. I can imagine they are a handful if Derry is anything to go by. Will Finoo beat him up - please?

    cheers Peter

I think we got off pretty lightly we were are, weather-wise! Lots of wind and rain, but no hail here (though my friends had their windows smashed out, and another was knocked out briefly by a hail stone!). A minor flood, and all the washing gone off the line lol... Oh well. I am SO glad to see the rain, I don't really mind the damage :)
  • Susan Stone

Thank you Myra for your enthusiastic comments on our grouse blog and pictures. We really had a wonderful time!
Good luck to you and future pups!

  • Cheryl Gorey

Hi Myra, thanks. Yes, I saw the news this morning about your storm and was shocked. So much destruction in such a short time, must have been terrible for the ones caught out in it!

We had 180kms winds, so still very surprised that there has been so little damage to houses! Mainly trees dropping on powerlines and the odd home!!! Very lucky really.

Looking forward to hearing all the exciting news with Asqaya's litter. Must have finally hit the right recipe!!!
    cheers
  • sammi pease

Hi We hope to come out in 2012 if not before, If Gordon Brown and the rest of the dreadful Labour government win the election in May, we may come out for good!!!!!!!!
I think my son said that he booked Salem in with John but he didn't think that John knew who he was. They are bringing him end of June. Often think of that day when Lupin legged it. and what a lovely place you live in. When might you come to England?
