After loosing my beautiful girl Jasmine...(aka Irish Show Champion Caspians Modesty JW) I now only have two Irish again....Kirkavagh Darara At Mayfred (Saffy) and her son Mayfred Mr Magnifico (Findlay) I have now added another wonderful baby to my house, so am back to three...
How long have you owned Irish Setters?
since 1971
About Me:
I am retired and my life revolves around my grandchildren and my dogs. If I am not with one I am with the other. We all like going on country walks, and to the beach, I spend a lot of time traveling to and from shows, both in Scotland/England and Ireland. Saffy and Fin travel to the shows with me, but I only show Fin at the moment, he is doing very nicely for me in his first couple of years in the ring, and is enjoying, (probably too much), his show career. Because he is a very naughty boy at times...But has learned that his 'job' is in the ring. And he loves it..
Just added my new baby girl...Suteresett Mine Mine Mine at Mayfred....she is by Mr Jingles out of Suteresett Black Magic....she is at the moment a typical baby, into everything but she is all Mine.a little treasure. and she has settled into our house as though she has been here forever..
I have started early, Dee! At least when it comes to forgetting stuff and loosing things...still not found Rusas pedigree after weeks of searching...and she is going to a show on sunday...but they told me that her card from the vet was good enough.
Perhaps it will turn up one day! :-)
Basically we need the pedigree for the vet-notes. All dogs have to be ID-marked anyhow. But this is a first-ever of loosing a pedigree. Typical!
And I keep looking in the same places, like where it SHOULD be.
As for carkeys...well this winter when it was freezing up so much, and I had a car covered in ice, I used to go out, start the car and then have another cup of tea inside waiting for the ice to melt.
I would THEn be searching high and low for my carkeys...with the car running just outside my door....
Like how stupid can you get?
No limit ....
Thanks Dee...Looking forward to keeping up-to-date with all the latest news via the website. Will add more pics of Kyle and Bleu when I get a moment!! Hope to see you soon. Dougie
Good thing with living out in the sicks...cars always unlocked, and at times with keys in as well.
But I can see this would not work in a built-up area...

Thanks Dee for the birthday wishes....not too happy about being another year older..but always lovely to hear from my 'setter buddies'....hope you're all keeping well, Lola is going thro' a thoroughly naughty stage at the moment...(13 months) .but she's so very affectionate, it's hard to stay cross with her....take care...Sammi et al..
Hi the day was not so great, but it's not so important ! it's always the same story : on each birthday you have one year more !!! Today my Arouenn is 5. Thanks for your wishes !
Hello Dee,
Thank you for my birthday greetings:)))
This year I decided to celebrate that day, and that was very nice, with home made (with friend Agnieszka help;))) cake... Lot of fun while preapring! Later on as well!
Hope spring is coming in Scotland;)
In Warsaw daffodils and crocuses are in blooms;))) Very nice.
Greetings for you and hugs for your reds
Anna with Bajka and Kruszyna
Still snowing!?
I've looked where Dunfermline is. Dee, you live in a such a beautiful and interesting place. That must be very nice. Ah, I didn't think about thousands of tourists in summer;(
I wish spring would come to you as soon as possible;-)
Anna
Hi Dee,
How are you today? I have just seen the news and I see you are back in Winter! I hope you have power.....here it is very windy and raining....rather colder too!
Hope to hear from you soon, Catherine
Hi dee,
I am glad you are Ok! It is my ringcraft night tonight too and I am not going either...we have just had snow and hail mixed-in ! My husband was up in Tees Valley yesterday and he said he never had such a bumpy flight back to Southampton before! They landed over 20 mns early, the wind was so strong! What a winter we are getting.....and it is Easter next week-end! Just did an open show on the Isle of Wight and got 2nd with my bitch (Kim) in Open ...so was quite pleased really!
Keep warm !
Catherine
Hi Dee,
I have just seen now your message of 2 days ago....must have missed the notifying email....
anyway yes the Isle of Wight ferry trip is rather expensive....but it was my first time there ever....I went with a friend who shows vizslas and we decided to make a day of it....unfortunately it poured with rain and was rather cold and we managed to get lost on the way back and just got the ferry with 2 mns to spare!!!!!
Hi Dee
If I could put in here the smell, I do not think I had any friends left ....
My whole house has a strange smell, and I clean and tidy. Now I have washed all bedding and blankets washed all the floors but there is really no point. We're in the woods every day and I let my girls have fun. I tend to think yes girls have fun and give me a good picture on it;)
Yes, and if that does not smell of muddy wet dogs were not enough, so our neighbors are running out manure today. Opens a window for you to sniff out dog smell let you into even worse odors from the fields around our house ....
When you write chicken manure I think of the time when my son went into our neighbor's tractor as he drove out chicken manure. Jonas had been trampled in the manure and then I brought him with my new car .... Guess what it smelled in the car then ....
I do not like chicken manure;))
My Bella also love chicken! She thinks it's fun to chase them!
Last week I cycled with her without a leash, home to my son. The hens were free in the garden, and Bella could not resist. It was a great cackle and the feathers flew.
A hen was a little damaged on the back, but it was not so bad. My son became very angry at her .....
hi dee thanks for your reply.im sorry to read your comments about some people at the show.
as you know i dont attend many shows and when i do im just a spectator but when i was at crufts it was really noticable that some remarks from people that were showing dogs and not from just the setters rings were less than unsportingley.
i know and understand the need to be competitive but surely it can be done with less cattiness (excuse the phrase)
it reminded me of when i used to take my girls to majorette competitions , some clubs were far better than others and thought they were a cut above which caused alot of friction within the groups which led to it then among the competitors which wernt so nice.
im of the opinion that everyone wants their teams or dogs to be winners and it must be nice but its the taking part in these competitions and meeting people who have the same interest as yourselves that should count.at the end of the day everyone has the best dog or is in the best team.my laylas never been in a showring but shes the best in my eyes
hope you are keeping well and the dogs are ok .we are taking layla it the caravan for 10 weeks next monday i cant wait its lovely to see her running on the beach without there been anything for her to bump into so if i dont write before i go ill be in touch when i come home
all the best from lyn, layla and lucy xxxxxx.
dee many congratulations on your second place with finlay and was it vhc in the other im so please for you the mayfred kennel name is winning all over europe with you puppies you must be so proud of your litter and good luck for forthcoming shows as ill be away
love lyn layla and lucy
Hi Dee,
Today I took Newton at the lake. He surprised me because he made a spectacular jump to the water. Than he had to swim few meters to get out. I hope he will not be afraid of water after this...
But I must say that at field trials for young dogs he would have got maximum notes for something like that ;)
well he wasnt very good on the grass as he associates grass with PLAY and he had a big area to play in lol moves good on concrete..yes im going to SKC wish me luck
hi dee hope you are ok as theres been no activity on your page for a few days.we have just popped home to come to my no smokin session (yes bin stopped 5 weeks) and put a few photos on
going back today so ill have a look at your page next time i get chance to get a computer, hope all your red kids are well and speak to you soon
love lyn layla lucy
Nice to see you back!!!!!!
Ines is fine with the operation, but its a totally differnt ballgame to setters giving birth earily, as mine tend to.
But yes, I will keep those photos coming, such fun to have these after years of setters! So different and not even a week old, yet you can see what they are going to be! :-)
Hi Dee not sure if I am going to Border Union just yet. Would like to go but all depends if hubby is around to look after the girls. Would be good to go and have a look see and find out more of what I am letting myself in for.
Holly is doing great she had her second injection and can get out as of next Monday. Will see how she copes walking on the lead. I have put it on her in the garden and let her walk around with it but as soon as I pick it up the brakes go on............but will move again if I produce a treat..she is a great wee character and I love her to bits x x
hi ya dee just catchin up while im on a home visit many congrats on your recent success in belfast and on your res with fin yesterday .it was nice to read of saffy and jas been in showring once again.was jas ok.hope you are all well and will catch up when we come home for good on 1st july.

Hi Dee ! Thanks for your comment. We are glad of the puppies. This time, we will not keep one because our Idgie is only 10 months and it's to near ! One boy is going to France to make exibitions.
Next year, we will have a litter with Frisbee(Idgie's mother) a Mr Jingle's daughter. For the maiting,
we will still use Beatles and will keep a little one.
We have seen the good results a some dogs of your kennel ! A good satisfaction for you !
Not at all, silly! Look forward to meeting you and Wishing you Good Luck at Birmingham, now. You may be in the ring before I can find out who you are!!!!!!!!!!
